We report a young homosexual male with AIDS that presented a systemic Cryptococcus neoformans infection. He had skin, lymph node and colonic involvement but the central nervous system was spared. The author describes a male patient with obsessive homosexual pedophilic fantasies treated with psychotherapy and medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), a progestin with antiandrogen activity. Long-acting MPA was administered for a 2-month period and caused a prompt and drastic reduction in fantasies and in the anxiety and depression generated by them. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the main associated clinical characteristics in a group of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the anus.
BACKGROUND: Anal carcinoma is associated with sexually transmitted viral carcinogenesis.

In a seventeen-month field study thirty-three male were interviewed and tentatively classified into four categories: call-boys, street prostitutes, bar hustlers, and kept boys. Two young male homosexuals developed prodromal syndrome followed by penicillin-responsive meningitis and the acute onset of pure motor hemiplegia. A 26-year-old male homosexual initially presented with Listeria monocytogenes sepsis and a small cell carcinoma of the rectum. His subsequent course included esophageal candidiasis, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, and severe T-lymphocyte abnormalities on immunologic testing, consistent with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Secondary syphilis is an overlooked cause of iritis and posterior uveitis. Three cases of acquired syphilitic uveitis were observed, two of which occurred in male homosexuals. In the first patient, a delay in diagnosis and treatment led to irreversible loss of vision and visual field. In the latter two cases, an increased index of suspicion led to earlier diagnosis and treatment, with complete recovery of vision.

The aim of this study was to examine the clinical characteristics of patients with gender identity disorder (GID) at a GID clinic in Japan.
