Liposarcoma usually occurs in the deep soft tissue of the extremities and the retroperitoneum. It rarely occurs in the cutaneous or subcutaneous tissues. We describe the case of a subcutaneous liposarcoma in a 63-year-old man, which arose from the chest wall. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a large subcutaneous tumor. Cardiac liposarcoma in a patient manifested multiple cardiac functional complications. Three dimensional reconstruction of the heart with multidetector row computed tomography made apparent each of the cardiac complications that resulted from the tumour's invasion. On the basis of these findings, the floating mass in the pulmonary artery and the compressing mass around the superior vena cava and interatrial septum were successfully resected. Pathological examination of the mass was consistent with well differentiated liposarcoma.

Spermatic cord liposarcoma is a rare pathology (1-4); currently about one hundred cases are documented. The therapy of choice is surgery, followed sometimes by radiotherapy. We herein describe our experience of 4 cases between 1995 and 2000, with median follow-up of 34 months (mean 48 months, range 28-95 months), in order to stress the role of orchifuniculectomy, even when mass-ablation first procedure may seem radical.

A low-grade dedifferentiated liposarcoma in the retroperitoneum of a 52-year-old woman is described. The excised specimens contained six nodules of lipoma-like well-differentiated liposarcoma and a nodule of dedifferentiated liposarcoma. The latter was composed predominantly of loosely arranged, benign-appearing spindle cells and fat cells. A small number of cells with irregularly shaped nuclei were scattered. BACKGROUND/AIM: Most paratesticular liposarcomas (PLPSs) are well-differentiated liposarcomas (WDLPSs) with favourable prognoses. As such, the rare occurrence of PLPS often leads to its misdiagnosis as a hernia or hydrocele on physical examination. Curative resection of the tumour may not be possible in cases where PLPSs have transformed into dedifferentiated liposarcomas (DDLPSs) owing to a delay in diagnosis. Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) are life-threatening, cutaneous reactions often associated with culprit drugs. A growing body of knowledge has deepened our understanding of the pathophysiology and clarified mechanisms such as drug-specific cytotoxicity mediated by T-cells, genetic linkage with HLA and non-HLA genes, TCR restriction, and cytotoxicity mechanisms. Liposarcoma is a common soft tissue sarcoma in retroperitoneum, but adrenal liposarcoma is rare. We here described a 61-year-old man with left-upper-quadrant pain, hypertension, and weight loss. Abdominal CT showed a large, heterogeneously enhanced mass on the left adrenal area, which compressed the surrounding pancreas, spleen, and left kidney. Subsequent FDG PET/CT demonstrated heterogeneous uptake by the lesion. Postoperative pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of adrenal liposarcoma.

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study is to identify factors associated to recurrence and survival in primary retroperitoneal liposarcomas.
METHODS: Prospective database of 35 patients with primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma treated 2004-2015 were retrospectively analyzed. Exclusion criteria were recurrent and metastatic tumors. Overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival were reviewed. Patient data were compared between patients with or without recurrence within 12 months after surgery. Risk factors were determined using logistic regression analysis.
