INTRODUCTION: There are many studies on the epidemiology of the orphan disease polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) in European countries. The use of a hospital morbidity database is an important element of epidemiological analysis. Multifocality and recurrence of urothelial carcinoma may result from either the field effect of carcinogens leading to oligoclonal tumors or monoclonal tumor spread. The CT findings in eight proven cases of peritoneal implants are presented. The most common CT appearance is a nodular soft-tissue density of 1.5--3.5 cm along the lateral aspect of the liver and often adjacent to an area of ascites. This was found in four patients. IMPORTANCE: Neurosurgical resection represents an important management strategy for patients with large, symptomatic brain metastases and increasingly is followed by stereotactic radiation as opposed to whole-brain radiation. Whether neurosurgical resection is associated with tumor spread beyond the resection site and adjuvant stereotactic radiation field remains unknown.

Robotic surgery is increasingly being performed for endometrial cancer. Robotic hysterectomies (RH), like traditional laparoscopic hysterectomies (LH), involve a significant amount of uterine manipulation. Extracranial and meningeal seeding of glioblastoma multiforme is rare. We report herein a case of glioblastoma in a 41-year-old man who underwent surgical resection, concomitant chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) and seven courses of adjuvant chemotherapy with temozolomide. The patient then complained of intermittent severe lower back pain and gait disturbance. Imaging studies demonstrated that although the intracranial residual tumors were well-controlled by the treatment, meningeal seeding involving the brainstem and spinal cord was present. We evaluated the safety of paclitaxel (TXL) via intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration in 6 patients with peritoneal dissemination of gastric cancer. Four patients were treated with TXL via i.p. administration at a dosage of 80-90 mg/m2 every 1 to 2 weeks. Grade 4 leukopenia was observed in 1 patient, accompanied with massive ascites. Two other patients, who also had malignant peritoneal effusion, were treated with TXL via i.p. administration at a dosage of 60 mg/m2 every 1 to 2 weeks. Persistent trophoblastic tissue has been described in the abdominal cavity after surgical treatment of tubal ectopic pregnancy. More infrequently the cause of the ectopic trophoblast is linked to uterine perforation due to surgically induced termination of pregnancy (TOP). Ultrasonographic images may suggest an ectopic pregnancy. A case of myometrial trophoblastic tissue implantation following surgically induced first-trimester TOP is described.

Out of a total of 379 patients with ovarian carcinoma a rectosigmoid stenosis was detected in 44 (12%). A barium enema was available in 27 cases, which revealed a severe stenosis (less than 1/2 lumen open) in 23, with an average length of 17 cm (5-40 cm). Colonic tumors were induced in Sprague-Dawley rats by weekly subcutaneous injections of 1,2 Dimethylhydrazine (DMH) for 4 months. Two cases of intracranial gliomas with extraneural metastases are described. Case 1, studied with biopsy material only, was a left malignant astrocytoma from the area of the rolandic fissure with right cervical lymph nodes metastases in a 43-year-old man.
