Maintenance treatment is now the most common treatment of opiate addicts in Germany. The principle of maintenance treatment is the administration of an opioid in order to suppress withdrawal symptoms and heroin craving. In this manner, maintenance treatment successfully reduces heroin abuse and directly associated risk behaviour. Only a minority of maintenance patients became opiate abstinent (including the maintenance drug). Racemic methadone is the most extensively evaluated maintenance drug. UNLABELLED: OBJECTIVE OF THE SURVEY: To determine the usual practice of French urologists in relation to the diagnostic and therapeutic management of chronic prostatitis.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A questionnaire on the diagnostic and therapeutic management of chronic prostatitis was sent by mail in June 2003 to 810 urologists, members of the Association Française d'Urologie and working in France.
RESULTS: 124 (15%) urologists returned the questionnaire. 61% of these urologists diagnosed less than 11 new cases of chronic prostatitis per year and 65% were not familiar with the new classification

Blepharitis is characterized by a great variety of clinical manifestations, which often include alterations of the ocular surface. This as well as its tendency to be therapy-resistant and recurrent explains why blepharitis marks a challenge for all ophthalmologists. Occasionally dermatologic diseases represent one of the causes of the disease, thus calling for an interdisciplinary approach.
