Associations Between Sedentary Behaviors, Sleep Patterns, and BMI in Young Dancers Attending a Summer Intensive Dance Training Program.

The purpose of this study was to investigate associations between sedentary behaviors, sleep hours, and body mass index (BMI) in 12- to 17-year-old dancers. This was a cross sectional survey in which bivariate correlation and simple linear regression were used to determine associations between self-reported components. One hundred fifteen dancers were queried, 91.3% of whom were female. The mean BMI was 19.6 ± 2.3 kg/m2. Two-thirds of dancers fell below the 50th percentile for age-adjusted BMI, and 30.4% fell below the 25th percentile. Better than 12% of dancers reported a history of anxiety,

A Gamified mHealth App to Promote Physical Activity and Reduce Sedentary Behavior in Autistic Adults: Protocol for a Remotely Delivered Pilot Intervention Study.

BACKGROUND: Research indicates that many autistic adults are insufficiently active and overly sedentary. There is limited evidence on effective strategies to increase physical activity (PA) and reduce sedentary behavior (SB) in this population. Gamified mobile health (mHealth) interventions show promise for addressing these challenges by leveraging autistic individuals' strengths in visuospatial learning and their affinity for digital gaming. Despite this potential, it remains unclear how well these interventions translate to real-world settings. This gap is compounded by the lack of community

Impact of physical activity patterns and sedentary behavior on sarcopenia prevalence among adults aged 18 to 59: A cross-sectional study from NHANES.

Sarcopenia, a growing public health concern lacking targeted therapies, highlights the need to investigate modifiable factors like physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior, which influence muscle health. However, most research focuses on older adults, with limited data on young and middle-aged populations. This study leverages the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data to investigate this topic in the US population aged 18 to 59 to address this critical gap. This cross-sectional study utilized data from 7869 participants in the NHANES (2011-2018) to assess associat
