Pseudoinverse Fuzzy Control of Discrete-Time Time-Delay Nonlinear Systems With Butterfly Hysteresis and Its Application on BDEA-Based Motion Platform.

This article proposes a novel fuzzy approximation-based adaptive dynamic surface control scheme with a double-loop pseudoinverse compensator for a class of discrete-time (DT) nonlinear systems characterized by time-delay and butterfly hysteresis. First, a DT butterfly Krasnosel'skii-Pokrovskii (DTBKP) model is developed to accurately characterize complex hysteresis in biconical dielectric elastomer actuators (BDEAs). Then, an optimized pseudoinverse (OPI) algorithm is designed to more effectively extract the actual control signal from the designed hysteresis temporary control signal, and there

Graded opsin co-expression along the butterfly retina fine tunes the spectral sensitivity of a colour-opponent cell across the visual field.

Compound eyes deliver a vast stream of information to the tiny insect brains. To maximize the information content and minimize the redundancy of neural signals, insect eyes are built so to encode the relevant and filter out the unimportant elements of the visual environment. Terrestrial habitats have a predictable spatio-spectral structure, which can be matched by the distribution of photoreceptors with different spectral sensitivities across the retina. Here, we investigate the retinal organization of the nymphalid butterfly Heliconius melpomene using single-cell recordings, immunohistochemis

Dual response signal CdTe QDs@ZIF-8 with butterfly spectrum for dual-mode fluorescence/colorimetric detection of tetracycline in animal feeds.

In this study, a ratiometric fluorescent sensor CdTe QDs@ZIF-8 with butterfly spectra is successfully constructed by in situ encapsulating mercaptopropionic acid-modified CdTe quantum dots in zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) with a simple strategy, and used for the detection of tetracycline in fluorescence/smartphone colorimetry dual-mode. ZIF-8 not only reduces the agglomeration of the quantum dots but also surprisingly generates a new green fluorescence signal at 524 nm while the red fluorescence of the CdTe quantum dots at 650 nm quenches when tetracycline is added. The two opposing

Weighted butterfly optimization algorithm with intuitionistic fuzzy Gaussian function based adaptive-neuro fuzzy inference system for covid-19 prediction.

Covid-19 cases are increasing each day, however none of the countries successfully came up with a proper approved vaccine. Studies suggest that the virus enters the body causing a respiratory infection post contact with a disease. Measures like screening and early diagnosis contribute towards the management of COVID- 19 thereby reducing the load of health care systems. Recent studies have provided promising methods that will be applicable for the current pandemic situation. The previous system designed a various Machine Learning (ML) algorithms such as Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), X

Streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats: effects of White Butterfly (Clerodendrum volubile) leaves on blood glucose levels, lipid profile and antioxidant status.

White Butterfly (Clerodendrum volubile) leaf is commonly used in traditional medicine for the management of various diseases including diabetes without the full understanding of the scientific basis for its use. This study sought to evaluate the antihyperglycemic, antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant effect of C. volubile leaves in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Aqueous extract of C. volubile was prepared and its effect assessed on relevant enzymes associated with diabetes. Fifty male Wistar rats were randomly separated into 10 groups each containing five rats. The induction of diab

Minimally invasive laser enucleation of the prostate (MiLEP) in a patient with prior EPA urethroplasty and an indwelling "Butterfly" prostatic retractor device: A case report.

We present the first reported case of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) in a patient with a mucosa-embedded nitinol-based "Butterfly" prostatic retractor device and a prior Excision and Primary Anastomosis urethroplasty for bulbar stricture. Using a 22Fr minimally invasive resectoscope (MiLEP), the device was fragmented with the laser and extracted in its entirety. Prostatic enucleation and morcellation were successfully and safely completed. Morcellation is feasible but requires caution due to device interference. This study demonstrates the feasibility of small-caliber MiLEP

Two new species of the lecanicephalidean cestode genus Hexacanalis Perrenoud, 1931 from butterfly rays in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, Iran.

The cestode order Lecanicephalidea predominately parasitizes batoid fishes. The genus Hexacanalis (family Lecanicephalidae) is defined by the presence of six osmoregulatory canals and an antero-posteriorly U-shaped ovary. This genus currently includes three recognized species distributed across the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. Until now, no records have documented its occurrence in the Persian Gulf or the Gulf of Oman. In this study, specimens of Hexacanalis were collected and examined for the first time from the genus Gymnura in both the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. Based

Anthocyanin-Rich Butterfly Pea Flower Extract Ameliorating Low-Grade Inflammation in a High-Fat-Diet and Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Mouse Model.

This study aimed to explore the enhancive effects of butterfly pea flower (BF) extracts on metabolic and immune homeostasis in a low-grade inflammation mouse model. The BF extract was found to contain mainly anthocyanins among other flavonoids. BF supplementation alleviated metabolic endotoxemia by lowering the plasma glucose, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels and restored lipid metabolism and the balance between Treg and Th17 cells, thereby inhibiting the dysfunctional liver and abdominal white adipose tissues. BF extract increased the tight junction protein

An extract from the frass of swallowtail butterfly (Papilio machaon) larvae inhibits HCT116 colon cancer cell proliferation but not other cancer cell types.

BACKGROUND: The frass of several herbivorous insect species has been utilised as natural medicines in Asia; however, the metabolite makeup and pharmaceutical activities of insect frass have yet to be investigated. Oligophagous Papilionidae insects utilise specific kinds of plants, and it has been suggested that the biochemicals from the plants may be metabolised by cytochrome P450 (CYP) in Papilionidae insects. In this study, we extracted the components of the frass of Papilio machaon larvae reared on Angelica keiskei, Oenanthe javanica or Foeniculum vulgare and examined the biological activit

Image quality improvements for brain soft tissue in neuro-endovascular treatments: A novel dual-axis "butterfly" trajectory for optimized Cone-Beam CT.

PURPOSE: Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is useful in the diagnosis of complications after neuro-endovascular treatment. However, the image quality of conventional CBCT is inferior to that of conventional CT. To solve this problem, a dual-axis butterfly CBCT available with an angiography suite has been developed. This study aimed to evaluate the image quality of this dual-axis butterfly CBCT compared to the conventional CBCT in the same patient. METHOD: We prospectively included patients who underwent scheduled neuro-endovascular treatment and performed conventional CBCT and novel dual-a

Crystal structure and bonding analysis of the first dinuclear calcium(II)-proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) `butterfly molecule': a combined microcrystal synchrotron and DFT study.

Proton-pump inhibitors (PPI) are prodrugs used widely to treat acid-related diseases since the late 1980s. After an extensive research effort it has become clear that the fundamental interactions between metal atoms and PPIs are of paramount importance for both drug release and long-term therapeutic safety. Unfortunately, until now, very little information has been available on this topic. In this paper, we report the crystal structure analysis of a novel calcium-PPI compound incorporating bridging and terminal deprotonated (R)-rabeprazole tricyclic ligands (L), namely bis[μ-(R)-2-({[4-(3-meth

Localization of ecdysone receptor protein during colour pattern formation in wings of the butterfly Precis coenia (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) and co-expression with Distal-less protein.

Butterfly wing colour patterns are determined during late larval and early pupal development, a part of metamorphosis controlled by ecdysteroid hormones via their nuclear hormone receptors. We have sequenced a fragment of the common regions of the ecdysone receptor (EcR) from the butterflies Precis coenia and Bicyclus anynanaand found high identities (83.5% to 100%) to EcR from a moth, Manduca sexta. In P. coenia, we sequenced a putative EcR-B1 isoform with 80.4% identity with the A/B-region of the M. sexta-EcR-B1. Consequently, we used antibodies generated against MsEcR-B1 to localise EcR pro

An Incidental Finding of Butterfly Vertebrae in a Case of Vertebral Defects, Anal Atresia, Cardiac Defects, Tracheo-Esophageal Fistula, Renal Anomalies, and Limb Abnormalities (VACTERL).

Butterfly spine is a rare benign congenital abnormality. The onset of a minimum of three of the congenital malformations of vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheo-esophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities often characterises the VATER/VACTERL relationship. Recognising this anomaly is crucial for diagnosis, although this rare aberration is thought to be asymptomatic most of the time. Here we are describing a case of a one-year-old female child who has tetralogy of Fallot, congenital anal atresia, vesicovaginal fistula, and butterfly vertebrae which were foun
