Prediction of Collision Cross-Section Values for Extractables and Leachables from Plastic Products.

The use of ion mobility separation (IMS) in conjunction with high-resolution mass spectrometry has proved to be a reliable and useful technique for the characterization of small molecules from plastic products. Collision cross-section (CCS) values derived from IMS can be used as a structural descriptor to aid compound identification. One limitation of the application of IMS to the identification of chemicals from plastics is the lack of published empirical CCS values. As such, machine learning techniques can provide an alternative approach by generating predicted CCS values. Herein, experiment

The safety of Chinese medicine: A systematic review of endogenous substances and exogenous residues.

BACKGROUND: Safety and toxicity have become major challenges in the internationalization of Chinese medicine. Inspite of its wide application, security problems of Chinese medicine still occur from time to time, raising widespread concerns about its safety. Most of the studies either only partially discussed the intrinsic toxicities or extrinsic harmful residues in Chinese medicine, or briefly described detoxification and attenuation methods. It is necessary to systematically discuss Chinese medicine's extrinsic and intrinsic toxic components and corresponding toxicity detoxification or detect

Outcome prediction in bariatric surgery through video-based assessment.

INTRODUCTION: The relationship between intraoperative surgical performance scores and patient outcomes has not been demonstrated at a single-case level. The GEARS score is a Likert-based scale that quantifies robotic surgical proficiency in 5 domains. Given that even highly skilled surgeons can have variability in their skill among their cases, we hypothesized that at a patient level, higher surgical skill as determined by the GEARS score will predict individual patient outcomes. METHODS: Patients undergoing robotic sleeve gastrectomy between July 2018 and January 2021 at a single-health care

Automatic Detection of Atrial Fibrillation in ECG Using Co-Occurrence Patterns of Dynamic Symbol Assignment and Machine Learning.

Early detection of atrial fibrillation from electrocardiography (ECG) plays a vital role in the timely prevention and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. Various algorithms have been proposed; however, they are lacking in considering varied-length signals, morphological transitions, and abnormalities over long-term recordings. We propose dynamic symbolic assignment (DSA) to differentiate a normal sinus rhythm (SR) from paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). We use ECG signals and their interbeat (RR) intervals from two public databases namely, AF Prediction Challenge Database (AFPDB) and AF T

Prediction of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation using new heart rate variability features.

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) is a cardiac arrhythmia that can eventually lead to heart failure or stroke if left untreated. Early detection of PAF is therefore crucial to prevent any further complications and avoid fatalities. An implantable defibrillator device could be used to both detect and treat the condition though such devices have limited computational capability. With this constraint in mind, this paper presents a novel set of features to accurately predict the presence of PAF. The method is evaluated using ECG signals from the widely used atrial fibrillation prediction databa

[Linkage of claims data with data from epidemiological cancer registries: possibilities and limitations in the German federal states].

BACKGROUND: In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for the reuse of research data in accordance with the so-called FAIR principles. This would allow researchers to conduct projects on a broader data basis and to investigate new research questions by linking different data sources. OBJECTIVES: We explored if nationwide linking of claims data from statutory health insurances (SHI) with data from population-based cancer registries can be used to obtain additional information on cancer that is missing in claims data and to assess the validity of SHI tumour diagnoses. Arrhythmia detection and classification using ECG and PPG techniques: a review.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmograph (PPG) are non-invasive techniques that provide electrical and hemodynamic information of the heart, respectively. This information is advantageous in the diagnosis of various cardiac abnormalities. Arrhythmia is the most common cardiovascular disease, manifested as single or multiple irregular heartbeats. However, due to the continuous manual observation, it becomes troublesome for experts sometimes to identify the paroxysmal nature of arrhythmia correctly. Moreover, due to advancements in technology, there is an inclination towards wearable sens
