Ovarian cancer (OV) has the highest mortality rate among gynecological cancers. As OV progresses, tumor cells spread outside the ovaries to the peritoneal and abdominal cavities, forming cell clusters that float in the ascitic fluid caused by peritonitis carcinomatosa, leading to further dissemination and metastasis. Three patients, each of whom had required intensive open-ended antimicrobial therapy for control of the symptoms of chronic relapsing neurological Lyme disease and relapsing babesiosis, were able to discontinue treatment and remain clinically well for periods of observation of 6-23 months following the completion of a finite course of treatment solely with disulfiram. One patient relapsed at six months and is being re-treated with disulfiram.

We retrospectively evaluated the use of disulfiram among alcoholic patients being treated for active tuberculosis. There were 13 alcoholics treated with disulfiram, 105 alcoholics not on disulfiram, and 249 non-alcoholics. Rates of toxicity were higher among alcoholics than among non-alcoholics (58% vs. 32%), but there was no difference between alcoholics taking and those not taking disulfiram (61% vs. 57%).
