In vitro susceptibility of Helicobacter pylori to botanical extracts used traditionally for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders.

The gram-negative bacterium Helicobacter pylori (HP), identified in 1982, is now recognized as the primary etiological factor associated with the development of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. In addition, HP infections are also associated with chronic gastritis, gastric carcinoma and primary gastric B-cell lymphoma. For centuries, herbals have been used in traditional medicine to treat a wide range of ailments, including gastrointestinal (GI) disorders such as dyspepsia, gastritis and peptic ulcer disease (PUD). However, the mechanism of action by which these botanicals exert their therap

Mechanisms of action of bioprotective plant extracts against the ochratoxigenic Penicillium nordicum in dry-cured sausages.

Plant extracts are promising strategies to minimise the hazard associated with ochratoxin A (OTA) in dry-cured sausages. Nonetheless, their mechanisms have not been elucidated yet. The mechanisms by which rosemary (REO), thyme (TEO) and oregano (OEO) essential oils and the extract of acorn shell (AE) impact on the OTA production by Penicillium nordicum were evaluated. Their effect on the mould's gene expression, ergosterol synthesis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and spore germination and their potential to the OTA detoxification were in vitro studied in three mould strains. Stability Profile and Clinical Evaluation of an Innovative Hydrogel Containing Polymeric Micelles as Drug Delivery Systems with Oregano Essential Oil against Fibroepithelial Polyps.

Skin tags, also known as fibroepithelial polyps (FPs) or acrochordons, are soft, pigmented excrescences, with a prevalence of 50-60% in the population, occurring especially in the fourth decade of life. To date, FPs have been efficiently eliminated using minimum invasive methods such as surgical removal, cauterization, laser irradiation, and cryosurgery. Over-the-counter treatments are also of interest for patients due to their non-invasive character, but their clinical efficiency has not been clearly demonstrated. This study was designed in order to evaluate the efficacy of a modern-pharmaceu
