INTRODUCTION: Auricular defects present reconstructive challenges, especially if they are bilateral. Surgical reconstruction provides effective results for defects; however for some patients surgical intervention is contraindicated. BACKGROUND: Limb amputations are responsible for disability. We studied the outcomes of lower limb amputees in our daily practice.
METHODS: This prospective analytical study over 7 years (January 2009-December 2015) included 70 amputees of lower limb. They were mainly male (73%), aged on average of 42.4 ± 18.8 years. The mean time of follow- up was 3.2 ± 1.9 years. We assessed disability on balance, walking, disability in daily life for patients with prosthesis, and the socio-economic impact of the amputation. Marjolin's ulcers are uncommon malignancies arising from previously traumatized, chronically inflamed or scarred skin. INTRODUCTION: For anti-ageing, devices and procedures to improve hearing (hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc.) and vision (eyeglass, intra ocular lens, etc.) are well established as communication support tools for the "speech chain". They can be fit to a person's individual needs, and adjusted as these needs change. However effective tools to improve voice problems associated with physiological aging are not so well established.

Part of the complexity of mitral valve chordal replacement with expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) sutures is determining the correct replacement chordal length and knotting the ePTFE suture without sliding the knot. We describe a technique of measuring the required chordal length and making a "premeasured" Gore-Tex chordal loop that abolishes problems of inadvertently altering chordal length during fixation. This improves the reproducibility of chordal replacement surgery, and can be used both via conventional and minimally invasive approaches.
