Two types of gynecologic tumors are commonly described in the Turner syndrome, the first one is gonadoblastoma, which occurs in patients with Y chromosome abnormalities, and the second one is endometrial carcinoma which is mostly related with exogenous estrogen usage. Here, we describe an extremely rare case of squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva in a virgin woman with Turner syndrome. A 35-years old single, virgin woman referred to our Oncology Department with warty, necrotized, exophytic 6-7 cm vulvar mass. She had a history of primary amenorrhea and mosaic Turner syndrome was determined in

Bone metastases from a vulvar carcinoma are exceptionally rare with only five reported cases in the literature. We report on a patient who was initially treated with radical vulvectomy and bilateral inguinal lymphadenectomy for a vulvar cancer (pT2, pN2 (6/37), M0; G2). Due to a positive nodal status, adjuvant radiation of the vulva and the pelvis was performed additionally. The patient presented 4 months after initial therapy with severe pain in the right humeral shaft due to a pathologic fracture based on an osteoclastic metastasis. During osteosynthetic stabilization histologic and immunohi

We report the occurrence of aggressive vulvar carcinoma associated with condyloma acuminata in three patients under 33 years old. Discussion of the role of the human papilloma virus (HPV) in the development of vulvar cancer is also presented. Three patients with condyloma associated with aggressive vulvar squamous cell carcinoma, in situ (1 case) and invasive (2 cases), documented by biopsy and/or vulvectomy are presented. In situ hybridization (ISH) was used to characterize the subtypes of HPV. One patient with erythematous systemic lupus developed in situ carcinoma after 5 years. The other t

A trend toward more conservative surgical intervention is evident in the current management of many gynecologic malignancies. The trend to manage vulvar carcinoma has moved away from the standard en bloc radical vulvectomy and bilateral lymphadenectomy and now consists of more limited excision of the primary tumor as well as of the regional lymph nodes. In preinvasive cervical carcinoma, conization is preferred instead of hysterectomy. The possibility for a more conservative surgical approach is also being explored for the treatment of selected early stage and advanced or recurrent cervical ca

Defects involving specialised areas with characteristic anatomical features, such as the nipple, upper eyelid, and lip, benefit greatly from the use of sharing procedures. The vulva, a complex 3-dimensional structure, can also be reconstructed through a sharing procedure drawing upon the contralateral vulva. In this report, we present the interesting case of a patient with chronic, massive, localised lymphedema of her left labia majora that was resected in 2011. Five years later, she presented with squamous cell carcinoma over the left vulva region, which is rarely associated with chronic lymp

INTRODUCTION: Accessory breast tissue is a very rare finding in the general population with an incidence of one to two percent. An even rarer occurrence is accessory mammary-like tissue which developed breast carcinoma. The authors present a case of aggressive and metastatic carcinoma of vulvar originating from mammary-like tissue.
CASE: A 73-year-old Caucasian female presented with a lesion in her left vulva. The lesion was ulcerated and fragile. A dermatologist had evaluated the lesion and took a punch biopsy. Result was vulvar carcinoma. She was admitted to the gynecologic oncology clinic

Tumor-to-tumor metastasis is a well-recognized phenomenon. Meningioma is the most common intracranial host tumor, with the breast and lung being the most common primary sites. We report herein two such cases of metastasis from pulmonary adenocarcinoma and malignant melanoma (MM) of vulva, respectively. Case 1: a 69-year-old female smoker who had a history of right upper lobectomy of lung for adenocarcinoma presented with a headache and altered mental status, and was found to have a left temporal contrast-enhancing mass with massive surrounding edema on MRI. The resection specimen revealed foci

A 50-year-old Spanish male pseudohermaphrodite (karyotype 46, XY) is described, who had a squamous cell carcinoma of the vagina, FIGO stage IV B. He was reared as a girl and changed gender at puberty. The phenotype was typical for 5alpha-reductase deficiency, as were the laboratory findings. A radical vulvectomy and dissection of the groins revealed inadequate resection near the urethra. Postoperative external irradiation was given. Human papillomavirus 16 DNA sequences were found in the tumor and in a groin metastasis. He died 3.5 years postoperation because of a tumor of the lung, probably a

Secondary osteomyelitis pubis is rare, particularly when it arises due to genitourinary postoperative infections, such as those occurring after vulvar cancer surgeries. Diagnosis and treatment of secondary osteomyelitis pubis are challenging. Here, we report on two cases of osteomyelitis pubis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa secondary to surgical site infections after of vulvar cancer surgeries. Both patients were in their 80 s and underwent vulvectomy and vulvar reconstructive surgery using skin flaps. The patients were discharged from the hospital after postoperative antimicrobial treatment

BACKGROUND: Vulvar cancer is the fourth most common gynecologic cancer, and prognosis is poor in advanced vulvar cancer patients. Treatment for advanced vulvar cancer has not been satisfactory. In this report, we firstly report a FIGO IVB vulva verrucous carcinoma patient who obtained good prognosis after systemic treatment.
CASE PRESENTATION: A patient was admitted to hospital due to her vulvar lesion persistent for past 14 years. The vulvar mass has widely invaded urethra, part of anus, the lower third of the vagina, bilateral superior and inferior branches of pubis, and bilateral internal

The normal histology of anogenital mammary-like glands (AGMLG) has been studied previously, but some aspects, including glandular depth, presence of columnar epithelium resembling columnar cell change/hyperplasia as defined in mammary pathology, and distribution of elastic fibers, have not been previously investigated. To address these issues, we studied 148 AGMLG identified in 133 paraffin blocks sampled from 64 vulvar wide excision or vulvectomy specimens (64 patients, various indications for surgery). The depth of AGMLG ranged from 0.64 to 3.9 mm. Epithelial columnar cell change was noted i

1. Vulvar cancer is surgically staged. 2. Imaging such as CT of the abdomen and pelvis should be performed for women with tumors 2 cm or larger or to detect lymph node or other metastases. 3. Staging should include evaluation of factors related to prognosis: tumor size, depth of invasion, lymph node involvement, and presence of distant metastases. 4. Inguinofemoral lymph node metastasis is the most important predictor of overall prognosis. 5. Inguinofemoral lymphadenectomy or sentinel lymph node evaluation can be omitted for lesions 2 cm or smaller and depth of invasion less than 1 mm. 6. Sent

Two cases of Langerhans cell histiocytosis involving the vulva are reported. The clinical features of Case 1 have been previously reported. The patients, aged 31 (Case 1) and 52 (Case 2) years, had disease limited to the vulva at the time of diagnosis. In both cases, the vulvar lesions were composed of Langerhans cells with twisted nuclei and nuclear grooves, associated with eosinophils and other inflammatory cells. Immunohistochemical studies using fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections showed that the Langerhans cells were positive for CD1A and S-100 protein in both cases, supporting the m

The purpose of this study is to report clinical aspects and treatment results of patients seen at Johns Hopkins. A search of the tumor registry of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center found 453 patients with malignancies of the vulva registered between 1977 and 1997. Patient and tumor characteristics, treatment methods, and follow-up were obtained from charts. Seven patients were identified with sarcoma of the vulva. Of these, one was removed from analysis due to histology. Three patients had leiomyosarcoma, two had fibrosarcoma, and one had epithelioid sarcoma. The mean age was 41. M
