Nonoperative Orthodontic Therapy for Retrognathia and Finding of Sella Turcica Bridging in a 16-Year-Old Girl With Freeman-Burian Syndrome.

In the context of a case presentation of a 16-year-old girl treated for retrognathia associated with Freeman-Burian syndrome (FBS), importance of early orthodontic evaluation and unique problems posed by FBS are discussed. Freeman-Burian syndrome universally presents limited oral access and risk of pulmonary complications, making immaculate oral health-care arduous but mandatory. With early identification and conscientious planning, satisfactory orthodontic and overall health outcomes can be achieved. Sella turcica bridging, when presenting in FBS in the absence of endocrine pathology, may be

Direct Mechanical Intervention Versus Bridging Therapy in Stroke Patients Eligible for Intravenous Thrombolysis: A Pooled Analysis of 2 Registries.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Randomized controlled trials have shown that mechanical thrombectomy (MT) plus best medical treatment improves outcome in stroke patients with large-vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation. Whether direct MT is equally effective as bridging thrombolysis (intravenous thrombolysis plus MT) in intravenous thrombolysis eligible patients remains unclear. METHODS: We compared clinical and radiological outcomes at 3 months in 249 bridging patients with 111 patients receiving direct MT for large-vessel occlusion anterior circulation stroke from 2 prospective registries (s

Endovascular stent placement for acute type-B aortic dissection with malperfusion--an intentional surgical delay and a possible 'bridging therapy'.

Acute aortic dissection frequently causes life-threatening organ ischemia. The optimal therapy for acute type-B aortic dissection is still controversial. Early surgery for acute dissections with organ malperfusion is known to carry a high morbidity and mortality. Endovascular treatment, such as stent placement for branch stenosis, percutaneous balloon fenestration for compression of the true channel and aortic stent placement to support collapsed true channel, is becoming an alternative form of treatment. However, it is not clear whether endovascular intervention alone is effective in the long

Role of a skin bridge incision and prophylactic incisional negative-pressure wound therapy in the prevention of surgical site infection after inguinal lymph node dissection.

BACKGROUND: Modification of the surgical technique to a 2-incision technique with skin bridge from the traditional lazy S (LS) incision, as well as use of prophylactic incisional negative-pressure wound therapy (iNPWT), are theorized to reduce the risk of surgical site infection (SSI) after inguinal lymph node dissection (ILND). We sought to investigate the role of a perioperative ILND bundle on adverse events after ILND and lymph node harvest. METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of patients who underwent ILND before and after implementation of the ILND bundle (September 2016) at 1 c

Real-world outcomes of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy with pembrolizumab as holding and/or bridging therapy in relapsed/refractory primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma.

BACKGROUND: Clinical data on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy in Japanese patients with relapsed/refractory primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (R/R PMBCL) are limited. This study evaluated the safety and long-term outcomes of CAR T-cell therapy in R/R PMBCL, including the impact of pembrolizumab used as holding (pre-apheresis) and/or bridging (post-apheresis) therapy. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed patients with R/R PMBCL receiving axicabtagene ciloleucel or lisocabtagene maraleucel at our institution between October 2021 and October 2025. Transarterial Selective Internal Radiation Therapy with Yttrium-90 for Liver Metastatic Urothelial Carcinoma of the Ureter as a Bridging Therapy to Immunotherapy: A Case Report with a 10-Year Follow-Up.

Primary transitional cell carcinoma of the ureter is a rare type of cancer with metastasis presented in approximately 25% at diagnosis. Due to its rarity and poor prognosis, the management of this neoplasm is still controversial, and the development of new therapies is of uttermost importance. Herein, we describe a case of a 54-year-old patient diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma of the left ureter submitted to left nephroureterectomy (pT3N2M0) and methotrexate, vinblastine, doxorubicin, and cisplatin adjuvant chemotherapy. A single liver metastasis was detected and combination chemothe

Accelerated Glofitamab as Urgent Bridging to CAR T-Cell Therapy in High-Risk Relapsed/Refractory Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

Conventional glofitamab step-up dosing reaches the 30-mg target dose approximately 3 weeks after obinutuzumab. This interval may be difficult to accommodate in patients with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (R/R LBCL) who require disease control within days before cellular therapy. We retrospectively evaluated an accelerated bridging schedule of obinutuzumab 1000 mg on day 1 followed by glofitamab 2.5 mg on day 4, 10 mg on day 8, and 30 mg on day 11. Forty-one consecutive adults with R/R LBCL were included. All patients had a documented plan to proceed to chimeric antigen receptor

Reimagining Renal Cell Carcinoma Therapy: Bridging Conventional Gaps with Monoclonal Antibodies (mAbs), Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors (nibs), and Nanocarriers.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC), a highly aggressive kidney malignancy, presents significant challenges in early diagnosis, therapeutic resistance, and metastatic progression. Conventional treatment modalities, including surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, remain essential but are often limited by non-specific toxicity, resistance development, and suboptimal long-term outcomes in advanced stages. In response, molecular-targeted therapies, such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and tyrosine kinase inhibitors, have significantly improved RCC management by selectively disrupting key signaling pathw

Comparing Efficacy and Safety of Bridging Therapy Versus Endovascular Thrombectomy in Acute Basilar Artery Occlusion: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Basilar artery occlusion (BAO), a rare and severe stroke, causes high morbidity and mortality. This meta-analysis aims to compare bridging therapy, including endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT), versus EVT alone in BAO. METHODS: PubMed, Cochrane Central, and ScienceDirect were searched until May 2025. The risk ratios (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were combined using a random effects model in Review Manager software. The quality assessment was conducted using the Cochrane Risk of Bias (RoB 2.0) and the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. Publication b

PARP Inhibitors plus Anlotinib as Bridging Therapy for Armored CAR-T Cells in Ovarian Cancer Enhances Infiltration and Antitumor Efficacy.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy is largely ineffective in most solid tumors, partially because of inadequate intratumoral trafficking. Bridging therapy, administered between leukapheresis and CAR-T cell infusion, offers a distinct opportunity to control the disease and precondition the tumor microenvironment without directly exposing CAR-T cells to concomitant drugs. Here, a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor combined with anlotinib is evaluated as bridging therapy for ovarian cancer. In immunocompetent mice bearing ovarian tumors, this regimen induces durable intratu

Safety and efficacy of bridging radiation therapy prior to CD19 CAR T for non-Hodgkin lymphoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Bridging radiation therapy (BRT) is increasingly utilized prior to CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CART19) in patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). However, its impact on outcomes of CART19 therapy is not established. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to estimate the safety and efficacy of BRT prior to CART19 therapy. A comprehensive search was performed in databases from inception to October 2024. We identified 18 studies encompassing 538 adult NHL patients who received BRT prior to commercial CART19. Random-effect models were applied to explore meta- ana

Bridging Gaps in LDL-C Management: Utilization of Lipid-Lowering Therapies, Gender Disparities, and the Impact of Cardiology Visits on Secondary Prevention.

Effective lipid control is essential for secondary cardiovascular prevention, with an LDL-C target of <70 mg/dL recommended for high-risk patients. While novel lipid-lowering therapies have expanded treatment options, their real-world use and impact on LDL-C control remain uncertain. This retrospective cohort study included 19,108 patients with coronary artery disease across 7 hospitals in Massachusetts from January 2019 to March 2024. We evaluated the use of novel therapies, sex disparities in LDL-C goal attainment, and the influence of outpatient cardiology care and cardiac rehabilitation. C
