This article discusses the gross and microscopic pathology of intracranial neoplasms. Primary intracranial neoplasms include tumors of the brain parenchyma; meninges; and rest of mesenchymal, epithelial, and germ cell derivation. The concept of tumor malignancy for primary central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms is somewhat different from that for systemic tumors. Although the capacity to metastasize is a defining feature of systemic malignancies and metastasis to the brain is a relatively common occurrence, primary CNS neoplasms rarely metastasize outside the CNS.

The authors report 12 cases of bilateral cupulolithiasis found in 142 subjects diagnosed as having benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. A case history was taken for these patients (4 males, 8 females; average age 28 years) and 10 reported a previous cranial trauma while the remainder did not refer any previous condition of note. Cutaneous disease is the most common health problem found in the homeless, in out patient clinics as well as in hospitals. They are related to life style characteristics. Fungal, bacterial infections, scabies and pediculosis are mainly observed. Other frequently observed skin diseases are caused by physical violence and trauma, drug abuse and nutritional deficiency In addition to limited access to health care, homeless patients tend to neglect their skin until problems become serious and disabling. The patient's condition will worsen without hospitalisation.

To elucidate the relationship between the clinical manifestations and pathologic findings of the lung in patients with cryptococcosis, we reviewed 14 autopsied cases of cryptococcosis. The microscopic diagnosis of coeliac disease is discussed. The small intestinal mucosal lesions observed in coeliac disease consist of a combination of epithelial alterations and inflammatory lesions starting with pre-infiltrative changes. In the early (?) changes an increase of lymphocytes is noted. The interactions probably finally lead to destruction or atrophy of the villi.

The basic pathologic mechanisms of corneal inflammation, including hereditary and degenerative-dystrophic keratopathies, are presented. Inflammatory keratopathies of non-ulcerative and ulcerative forms, which often occur in the ophthalmopathological diagnostics, are described, and special nosological entities are emphasized. The consequences of corneal ulceration are mentioned, and the incidence of neoplastic corneal processes is considered.
