Outlier detection of skill decision differences of football penalty takers from a data-driven perspective: multialgorit hm modeling and empirical research of eye-tracking data.

UNLABELLED: Defensive performance in football penalty kicks relies heavily on a goalkeeper's visual anticipation and rapid decision-making capabilities. While identifying the visual search advantages of expert athletes is crucial for optimizing training, conventional eye-tracking metrics often fail to capture the complex spatial distribution patterns of gaze points. Integrating machine learning anomaly detection algorithms offers a novel methodological perspective for the precise quantification and analysis of visual strategy variations across different expertise levels. OBJECTIVE: This study

Clustering Finnish Gambler Profiles Based on the Money and Time Consumed in Gambling Activities.

Gambling involves consumption of gamblers' money and time. Gamblers are a heterogeneous group, and in addition to grouping gamblers based on personality factors, it is also important to find different gambler profiles with respect to their gambling behavior. Using the nationally representative survey 'Finnish Gambling 2011' (N = 4484), this article studies the subtypes of Finnish gamblers based on the frequency of gambling and the amounts of money and time used in different gambling forms. Cluster analysis reveals six profiles of gamblers, from infrequent gamblers to omnivorous gamblers. In th

Using Wearable Devices and Speech Data for Personalized Machine Learning in Early Detection of Mental Disorders: Protocol for a Participatory Research Study.

BACKGROUND: Early identification of mental disorder symptoms is crucial for timely treatment and reduction of recurring symptoms and disabilities. A tool to help individuals recognize warning signs is important. We posit that such a tool would have to rely on longitudinal analysis of patterns and trends in the individual's daily activities and mood, which can now be captured through data from wearable activity trackers, speech recordings from mobile devices, and the individual's own description of their mental state. In this paper, we describe such a tool developed by our team to detect early

Shared glycosylation-related molecular mechanism and immune infiltration patterns of fetal growth restriction and preeclampsia.

BACKGROUND: Placental dysfunction and immune dysregulation are central to disorders such as fetal growth restriction (FGR) and preeclampsia (PE). Although aberrant placental glycosylation has been implicated in various pregnancy complications, the specific expression patterns of glycosylation-related genes (GRGs) associated with placental pathology and their potential role in driving immune imbalance at the maternal-fetal interface remain poorly understood. METHODS: First, differentially expressed gene (DEG) identification and gene set enrichment analysis based on two GEO datasets (GSE114691

Hospital efficiency assessment: a systematic review of DEA and hybrid DEA-machine learning approaches.

The increasing complexity of healthcare systems and growing resource constraints have made hospital efficiency assessment central to healthcare management and policy. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been widely used to evaluate hospital efficiency due to its ability to accommodate multiple input and output structures. However, classical DEA applications provide limited support for explaining efficiency scores, generating predictions, and informing managerial decision-making. This study systematically reviews hospital efficiency studies published between 2020 and 2025 to examine the use and

Handwriting strokes as biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease prediction: A novel machine learning approach.

In recent years, machine learning-based handwriting analysis has emerged as a valuable tool for supporting the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and predicting its progression. Traditional approaches represent handwriting tasks using a single feature vector, where each feature is computed as the mean over elementary handwriting traits or strokes. We propose a novel approach that analyzes each stroke individually, preserving fine-grained movement information that is critical for detecting subtle handwriting changes that may indicate cognitive decline. We evaluated this method on 34 handwri

Rapid diagnosis and recurrence prediction of choledocholithiasis disease using raw bile with machine learning assisted SERS.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) analysis based on body fluids has been widely applied in disease diagnose. Choledocholithiasis is a widespread and often recurrent digestive system disease, with limited data on factors predicting its formation and reappearance. Bile contains many components that could provide valuable diagnostic information; however, the current diagnosis of biliary disease by SERS focuses on detecting specific component in the bile, overlooking the complex interplay and correlations among multiple factors that could be crucial for accurate diagnosis. Advances in gait research related to Alzheimer's disease.

INTRODUCTION: Alzheimer's disease (AD) represents a degenerative condition affecting the nervous system, characterized by the absence of a definitive cause and a lack of a precise therapeutic intervention. Extensive research efforts are being conducted worldwide to enhance early detection methods for AD and to develop medications capable of effectively halting the initiation and progression of the disease during its early stages. Some current detection methods for early diagnosis are expensive and require invasive procedures. More and more evidence shows that gait is related to cognition. A de

Machine Learning Model for Imbalanced Cholera Dataset in Tanzania.

Cholera epidemic remains a public threat throughout history, affecting vulnerable population living with unreliable water and substandard sanitary conditions. Various studies have observed that the occurrence of cholera has strong linkage with environmental factors such as climate change and geographical location. Climate change has been strongly linked to the seasonal occurrence and widespread of cholera through the creation of weather patterns that favor the disease's transmission, infection, and the growth of Vibrio cholerae, which cause the disease. Over the past decades, there have been g
