The histone lysine methyltransferase KMT2D sustains a gene expression program that represses B cell lymphoma development.

The gene encoding the lysine-specific histone methyltransferase KMT2D has emerged as one of the most frequently mutated genes in follicular lymphoma and diffuse large B cell lymphoma; however, the biological consequences of KMT2D mutations on lymphoma development are not known. Here we show that KMT2D functions as a bona fide tumor suppressor and that its genetic ablation in B cells promotes lymphoma development in mice. KMT2D deficiency also delays germinal center involution and impedes B cell differentiation and class switch recombination. Integrative genomic analyses indicate that KMT2D aff

"Children at risk": development, implementation, and effectiveness of a school-based violence intervention and prevention program.

Violence impacts the lives of children on a daily basis. In their communities, they witness drive-by shootings, drug deals, and violence in their schools while many endure abuse, neglect, and violent behavior in their homes. Because the traumatizing impact of such exposure disrupts a child's ability to concentrate and learn, the Dallas Independent School District (ISD) sought content expertise to develop a training vehicle for school district professionals. The program aimed to raise the awareness of educators to problems related to domestic violence and the myriad of circumstances at home and

Development of a xenogeneic DNA vaccine program for canine malignant melanoma at the Animal Medical Center.

INTRODUCTION: Canine malignant melanoma (CMM) is an aggressive neoplasm treated with surgery and/or fractionated RT; however, metastatic disease is common and chemoresistant. Preclinical and clinical studies by our laboratory and others have shown that xenogeneic DNA vaccination with tyrosinase family members can produce immune responses resulting in tumor rejection or protection and prolongation of survival. These studies provided the impetus for development of a xenogeneic DNA vaccine program in CMM. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cohorts of three dogs each received increasing doses of xenogeneic p

Experiences from the development of a comprehensive family support program for pediatric trauma and rehabilitation patients.

This report discusses the successes and problems associated with the development of a family support system designed to improve outcomes in a pediatric trauma population. Studies have demonstrated lowered health-related quality of life among injured children during rehabilitation, along with substantial parental stress. By developing comprehensive support services for families, we may decrease parental burden and improve parents ability to care for their children, thus improving health outcomes for them. Through analysis of data from a longitudinal study of injured children, focus group interv

Interpersonal trauma and animal-related experiences in female and male military veterans: implications for program development.

Exposure to trauma is more frequent than was previously recognized. The prevalence and impact of trauma events, including trauma involving animals, was assessed in age-matched male and female veterans. High rates of exposure to at least one trauma event were reported by males (95%) and females (97%). Females were more likely to report sexual and physical abuse by a significant other. Both genders experienced higher trauma rates in the military than in civilian settings. A survey of animal-related experiences showed similar rates of losing a special pet, being frightened or hurt by an animal, w

Development of an AI-based magnetic resonance imaging reading support program (AMP) for deep endometriosis diagnosis.

Diagnosis of endometriosis faces significant challenges including diagnostic delay and reliance on invasive procedures. Deep endometriosis (DE) poses additional difficulties in non-invasive diagnosis due to its subtle and complex imaging features. To address these challenges, we developed an AI-based MRI reading support program (AMP) designed to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, with the primary endpoint of demonstrating its potential to enhance radiologists' reading sensitivity. AMP comprises the following three models: (1) a nnU-Net model for endometriotic nodular lesion (plaque) s
