Multi-omics analysis reveals gut microbiota-host transcriptomic remodeling associated with the protective effects of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG against rotavirus enteritis.

OBJECTIVE: Rotavirus enteritis is closely associated with intestinal epithelial injury, gut microbial dysbiosis, and mucosal immune perturbation; however, the microbiota-host mechanisms underlying the protective effects of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) remain incompletely defined. This study aimed to characterize LGG-induced microbiota-host transcriptomic remodeling in neonatal mice with rotavirus enteritis using an integrated multi-omics framework. METHODS: BALB/c suckling mice were assigned to Control, Model, and LGG groups. Rotavirus enteritis was induced by oral gavage with SA11 r

Preclinical 203/212Pb-DOTA-Based Pretargeted Radioimmunotherapy in Nude Mice Bearing Established Human Colorectal Cancer Xenografts.

The 203Pb (half-life [t1/2], 51.9 h) and 212Pb (t1/2 = 10.6 h) theranostic pair shows great potential for radiopharmaceutical therapy. We have developed a highly versatile pretargeted radioimmunotherapy (PRIT) platform that utilizes antitumor antigen/anti-DOTA bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) in combination with rapidly clearing, low-molecular-weight DOTA-radiohaptens (DOTA-PRIT). In this study, we tested the hypothesis that high-therapeutic index (TI) targeting of 212Pb (an in vivo generator of α-emitting progeny, specifically 212Bi (t1/2 = 1.01 h) and 212Po (t1/2 = 0.3 µs), and its imaging surr

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis in children: A contemporary multicentre cohort and the emerging role of parenchyma-sparing and minimally invasive management.

BACKGROUND: Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP) is a rare chronic destructive granulomatous pyelonephritis. Paediatric experience is limited and mostly historical. The largest published series reported nephrectomy in 95.4 %. Whether this radical-only paradigm still reflects best practice in the cross-sectional imaging and minimally invasive surgery era is unclear. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed all paediatric patients (≤16 years) treated for XGP at four tertiary paediatric-surgery centres of Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), the university hospital trust

225Ac α-Pretargeted Radioimmunotherapy of Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2-Expressing Breast Cancer.

Radioimmunotherapy using 225Ac, a highly cytotoxic α-particle emitter, has potential for treating advanced breast cancer, especially human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive cases. We use a pretargeted radioimmunotherapy (PRIT) approach consisting of a 3-step intravenous regimen (step 1: bispecific anti-HER2/anti-DOTA antibody; step 2: clearing agent; step 3: 225Ac-radiolabeled Proteus DOTA, or [225Ac]Ac-Pr). Our goal was to establish curative 225Ac-PRIT with high therapeutic indices. Methods: The impact of [225Ac]Ac-Pr specific activity was evaluated in the BT-474 breast xenog

[Epidemiology and clinical features in diabetic patients with invasive infections treated at the Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases of Iaşi, Romania, between 2008-2010].

UNLABELLED: Infections in the diabetic population can be severe and life threatning at least for two reasons: clinical signs are often torpid, masqued by chronical complications of diabetes leading to late recognition and medical adresability and also because of the inability to control established infection due to complex cell-mediated and humoral immunity deffects. The aim of the study was to evaluate the etiology, clinical features and outcome in diabetic patients with invazive disease. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted between January 2008 and December 2010 at The

Evaluation of CD4(+)/CD8(+) status and urinary tract infections associated with urinary schistosomiasis among some rural Nigerians.

BACKGROUND: Data on urinary schistosomiasis in Nigeria are mainly epidemological. The knowledge of co-infections of urinary schistosomiasis and other pathogens are important epidemiological tools for the control and health benefits of the rural dwellers. The granulomatous reactions in urinary schistosomiasis is CD4(+) dependent. The CD8(+) is cytotoxic to parasites and it is activated by CD4(+). These parameters therefore participate in the immune responses to urinary schistosomiasis. OBJECTIVE: In this study, we evaluated the polyparasitism involving urinary schistosomiasis and urinary tract
