One hundred and seventy six cases of various clinical types of pyodermas were investigated to find the causative organism of the disease. Folliculitis formed the largest clinical group followed by infectious eczematoid dermatitis, secondary infection, furuncles, impetigo, ecthyma and carbuncle in descending order of frequency. Necrobiosis lipoidica (NL) is a granulomatous inflammatory skin disease strongly associated with diabetes mellitus (DM). Red-brown papules expanding into plaques with erythematous indurated borders on the lower extremities are characteristic of NL. Diagnosis is made clinically; however, biopsy of lesions confirms the diagnosis. Untreated NL may ulcerate and lead to further complications, but progression to superimposed pyoderma vegetans (PV) is not a known occurrence.

A case of hydrocele infection secondary to a cutaneous b-hemolytic group A streptococcal infection is described in a renal transplant recipient. Sepsis and renal failure occurred in the setting of this severe, life-threatening infection. This case represents the first description of a group A streptococcal hydrocele infection in an adult. This type of infection can progress rapidly to sepsis and its attendant complications, especially in an immunocompromised patient. Early diagnosis and treatment is crucial in order to optimize the outcome.
