Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) is the main form of glaucoma in China. The pathological mechanism of PACG is not yet well understood. Taking advantage of different statistical models, the usefulness was evaluated by sensitivity, specificity and the area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve (ROC), which indicates the accuracy of genetic profiling in discriminating between primary angle closure glaucoma patients and normal controls.

Surgical outcomes of phacoemulsification only and phacoemulsification combined with trabeculectomy were compared in patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG). BACKGROUND: We describe progressive optic neuropathy after recurrent disc hemorrhages in patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma.
CASES: Three Taiwanese Chinese patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma and recurrent disc hemorrhages were followed for 10 years.

INTRODUCTION: A case of severe acute bilateral angle closure glaucoma with complete visual loss after oral topiramate therapy.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 34 year-old woman developed bilateral severe visual loss 2 days after doubling the dosage of topiramate. Her best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was counting fingers in both eyes (OU). Intraocular pressures were 49 mm and 51 mm of Hg in right and left eyes respectively, with conjunctival chemosis, corneal edema, shallow anterior chamber and closed angles on gonioscopy. B-scan ultrasound revealed annular peripheral choroidal effusions in both eyes.

We report the second known case of acute angle-closure glaucoma from vitreous prolapse after neodymium:YAG (Nd:YAG) laser posterior capsulotomy in a patient with a posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL). This is the first reported case to result in corneal decompensation that required penetrating keratoplasty. The rare complication of vitreous prolapse was unusual in this patient because of the presence of a posterior chamber IOL, a small 4.0 mm capsulotomy opening, and low (26 mJ) Nd:YAG laser energy.

A case-control study was conducted to determine the risk factors of primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG). In this study, 103 cases of PACG patients and 95 cases of non-glaucoma controls were investigated. It was found that the risk factors of PACG were family history of glaucoma, irritable temper, short distance between eyes and workplace at work and high blood pressure. The results did not support that cigarette smoking, alcoholic consumption, diabetes mellitus, myopia and blood types were related with PACG.

We examined 91 patients (151 eyes) with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) by pressure gonioscopy and studied the distribution and the morphology of peripheral anterior synechia (PAS). Late-onset angle-closure glaucoma secondary to retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) occurred in ten eyes of ten patients. The age at presentation ranged from 12 to 45 years (mean, 32 years).
