INTRODUCTION: Graves´ disease (GD) is the predominant cause of hyperthyroidism. Treatment options include antithyroid drugs (ATD), surgery, and radioactive iodine ablation (RI). Although thyroid peroxidase antibodies (anti-TPO) are prevalent in patients with GD, their role in driving relapse or hypothyroidism after treatment in patients with GD remains unclear. This study aimed to determine if patients with anti-TPO at GD diagnosis are more likely to relapse after ATD or RI treatment, and if patients with anti-TPO are at increased risk of developing hypothyroidism post-ATD treatment.

Eosinophil peroxidase (EPX) correlates with local type 2 inflammation and may serve as a noninvasive biomarker of eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis. EPX declines after surgery and dupilumab, highlighting its potential to track treatment response. INTRODUCTION: We aimed to assess the diagnostic utility of eosinophil peroxidase (EPX) staining on Cytosponge (CS) samples in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE).
METHODS: Esophageal biopsy (BX) samples from adult subjects with EoE were assessed using peak eosinophils per high-power field (eos/hpf), EPX, and the EoE histologic scoring system. EPX staining and eos/hpf were compared (BX vs CS).
RESULTS: CS EPX positivity correlated with eos/hpf (CS [ r = 0.82, P < 0.0001]; BX [ r = 0.65, P < 0.0001]) and EoE histologic scoring system (grade [ r = 0.62, P < 0.00001]; stage [ r = 0.61, P < 0.0001]).

Selenocysteine (Sec) is the 21st amino acid in the genetic code where this amino acid is primarily involved in redox reactions in enzymes because of its high reactivity toward oxygen and related reactive oxygen species. BACKGROUND: The presence of a wide range of bioactive organic pollutants in wastewater and municipal water sources is raising concerns about their potential effects on humans. Not surprisingly, various approaches are being explored that can efficiently degrade these persistent organic pollutants. PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATION: The aim of the study was to determine the effect of different types of management on the activity of catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in women with cervical carcinoma.
