An investigation of the relation between online and offline violence: methodological and theoretical considerations.

INTRODUCTION: Research focusing on whether exposure to "online" violence via social media (exposure to violent content, such as videos of beatings or fights) predicts the use of physical "offline" violence (from hitting and threatening someone to violence against objects) in real-life is scarce and consists of mostly qualitative studies. The current quantitative study was designed to investigate this association while controlling for gender, and used the General Aggression Model (GAM) and the Developmental Neuro-ecological Risk-taking Model (DNERM) for its theoretical framework. Additionally,

Navigating the Perils of Pregnancy and Childbirth Among Youth in La Pointe, Haiti: Insights Captured Through Community Photovoice Research.

In Haiti, surviving pregnancy and childbirth is especially tenuous for young women, who are already marginalized. One of the four leading causes of death for women 20-24 years old is pregnancy- or childbirth-related. An important gap remains regarding youth perspectives of maternal health and well-being within their communities. We conducted a community-based participatory research study using Photovoice to understand the lived experiences of 17 young women from La Pointe, Haiti, and its surrounding rural communities, who survived a maternal near-miss, a grave obstetric event that one narrowly

Purposeful Heading in Youth Soccer: Time to Use Our Heads.

Repeated purposeful heading in soccer has come under increased scrutiny as concerns surrounding the association with long-term neurodegenerative disorders in retired players continues to grow. Whilst a causal link between heading and brain health has not been established, the 'Precautionary Principle' supports the notion that soccer governing bodies and associations should consider implementing pragmatic strategies, which can reduce head impact during purposeful heading in youth soccer whilst this relationship is being investigated. This viewpoint discusses the current evidence to support low-

Cardiac Rehabilitation: A Bibliometric Review From 2001 to 2020.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a serious threat to global public health due to its high prevalence and disability rate. Meanwhile, cardiac rehabilitation (CR) has attracted increasing attention for its positive effects on the cardiovascular system. There is overwhelming evidence that CR for patients with CVD is effective in reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. To learn more about the development of CR, 5,567 papers about CR and related research were retrieved in the Web of Science Core Collection from 2001 to 2020. Then, these publications were scientometrically analyzed based on

Non-antibiotic approaches for disease prevention and control in beef and veal production: a scoping review.

Livestock producers are encouraged to reduce the use of antibiotics belonging to classes of medical importance to humans. We conducted a scoping review on non-antibiotic interventions in the form of products or management practices that could potentially reduce the need for antibiotics in beef and veal animals living under intensive production conditions. Our objectives were to systematically describe the research on this broad topic, identify specific topics that could feasibly support systematic reviews, and identify knowledge gaps. Multiple databases were searched. Two reviewers independent

Sexual Offending with Childlike Sex Dolls in Australia: A Descriptive Study of Media Reports.

Childlike sex dolls (CLSDs) present an issue of growing concern for criminal justice professionals and child safety advocates around the globe, with legislation being rapidly introduced to combat this problem. Empirical research on this topic is limited, and little has been documented about individuals who import, own and/or use CLSDs. This study sought to contribute to knowledge by examining newsprint media reports concerning cases (n = 33) of CLSD importation and/or use in Australia. The research sets out the key features of these cases to advance understanding and inform professionals taske

Perceived Community Support, Users' Interactions, and Value Co-Creation in Online Health Community: The Moderating Effect of Social Exclusion.

Online health communities (OHCs) face the same problem as other social media platforms in terms of decreasing activity and user attrition. Drawing upon organizational support theory, this study explores how perceived community support affects user interactions and value co-creation which in turn influence their continuous participation. OHCs act as both health knowledge-sharing platforms and important social media for patients, and thus, interpersonal interactions in OHCs are categorized into health-related and general topic interactions. Considering the identity of patients, this study also e

Doing Qualitative Workplace Relationship Research: Current Trends, New Directions, and Quality Indicators.

Workplace relationship research has expanded rapidly across multiple disciplines, yet qualitative approaches to studying workplace relationships often remain constrained by single-participant designs, organization-centered analyses, and lingering post-positivist assumptions about rigor. Responding to these limitations, this article offers a methodological and conceptual primer for qualitative workplace relationship research grounded in interpersonal, organizational, constitutive, and reflexive traditions. Drawing on recent scholarship, the article first reviews contemporary conceptualizations
