A retrospective evaluation of 215 consecutive recipients of high-dose chemotherapy (HDC) and autologous stem cell rescue (ASCR) was conducted to ascertain the incidence, temporal course, and outcome of varicella zoster virus (VZV) infection. We present a retrospective study of 30 cases of primitive cerebral neuroectodermal tumors (PNET), excluding medulloblastomas, referred to us postoperatively for additional therapy to evaluate prognostic factors and treatment efficiency. The histologic types were: pinealoblastomas (n = 7); ependymoblastomas (n = 2); medulloepitheliomas (n = 4), and other PNET (n = 17). Intermittent intravesical doxorubicin chemotherapy was given to 27 patients with multiple recurrent superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder, including 12 who had become refractory to intravesical thiotepa. The starting dose was 60 mg. doxorubicin diluted in 40 to 50 ml. normal saline solution and doses were increased to 90 mg. The duration of instillation was 60 minutes. Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) is associated with a dismal prognosis in aggressive subtypes, with a median overall survival (OS) of less than one year.
