OBJECTIVE: To determine the dimensions of the nasal cavity in infants with congenital pyriform aperture stenosis (CPAS).
STUDY DESIGN: The nasal cavities of seven children with CPAS were identified and were compared to the nasal cavities of 13 neonates (<30 days old) who had received CT scans for other indications.
METHODS: The width of the nasal cavities was measured at the pyriform aperture, choana, and at two standardized points along the lateral nasal wall (LW-1 and LW-2) between the pyriform aperture and choana.

Rhinophyma is a relatively common condition in the west of Scotland. The Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit receives 12 to 13 new patients per year for surgical treatment. The bilateral cleft anomaly is difficult to correct and camouflage because of the double lack of many important landmarks and the shortness of skin in the midvertical plane. A possible solution in patients who have some columella or in those of races not needing a long columella is the strap flap advancement of the nostril sills and alar bases. In all other cases, the forked flap is the method of choice for adequate correction and camouflage of the bilateral cleft lip-nose deformity.

PURPOSE: Caudal septoplasty is a difficult procedure. The cutting and suture technique is suitable for caudal septoplasty, but a batten graft is always necessary and bears the risk of nasal tip projection loss. IMPORTANCE: Internal nasal valve (INV) collapse is a common cause of nasal obstruction, and spreader grafts are the established standard of treatment. Recently, spreader flaps have gained attention in the treatment of nasal valve stenosis when performed in conjunction with dorsal hump reduction. To date, the efficacy of the spreader flap technique without dorsal hump reduction has not been previously described.

The crooked nose is one that the vertical axis of the nose inclines from the midline. As a rule, a major septal deformity almost always accompanies to impairing breathing and aesthetic appearance. To achieve total straightening of the crooked nose, the septum must become the target of the treatment.
