Fatigue is a common symptom in patients visiting the clinic of psychosomatic medicine. It has been suggested that endogenous ouabain-like substance (OLS) is of adrenal origin and the secretion of OLS may be ACTH dependent. Ninety seven patients (63 males, mean age 31.8 years, SD 2.3) with various forms of tuberculosis were studied. All of them were HIV negative. Forty two children with West's syndrome who had been treated in the Clinic of Paediatrics, Higher Medical Institute, Plovdiv in the last 10 years were entered into the present study. This study assessed the effect of chronic infusions of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) on in vivo and in vitro production of aldosterone.
