Impact of corticosteroid administration on the response of exposed dental pulp to capping with bioactive cements-experimental study on mongrel dogs.

BACKGROUND: Corticosteroids are commonly used as a treatment for a variety of pathological conditions, however, systemic corticosteroid administration has adverse effects including impaired immune response and wound healing. Such complications may affect pulp healing after direct pulp capping. The current study evaluated the influence of corticosteroids on the healing ability of exposed dogs' dental pulps after direct pulp capping (DPC) with bioactive materials. METHODS: Ten healthy male dogs were assigned randomly into two groups, 5 dogs each: group I represent the control group which did no

Direct Pulp Capping of Primary Molars with Calcium Hydroxide or MTA Following Hemorrhage Control with Different Medicaments: Randomized Clinical Trial.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different medicaments (sterile saline [SS]; ferric sulfate [FS]; or sodium hypochlorite [SH]) and pulp capping materials (calcium hydroxide [CH] or mineral trioxide aggregate [MTA]) on the success of direct pulp capping (DPC) in primary molars. Methods: The study was conducted with 55 children aged four to eight years. A total of 118 teeth, in which occlusal caries removal resulted in pulp exposure, were treated with DPC across six groups: SS+CH; FS+CH; SH+CH; SS+MTA; FS+MTA; and SH+MTA. Teeth were restored with Class I composite resin. Resu

MMP-9 Levels and NaOCl Lavage in Randomized Trial on Direct Pulp Capping.

Outcome expectations of direct pulp capping in carious teeth are obscured by a clinically unknown infiltration and breakdown of the dental pulp tissue. Histologic studies showed that this soft tissue breakdown is related to the innate immune system. We hypothesized 1) that a neutrophil biomarker could predict the outcome of direct pulp capping and 2) that using sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) as a lavage solution to remove necrotized infected pulp tissue could improve it. In this randomized trial in mature posterior teeth causing no or mild discomfort with carious pulpal exposures, pulpal fluid wa

Oral Streptococcus mutans load among Indian children with cerebral palsy.

The motor impairments of cerebral palsy (CP) are typically accompanied by subsequent musculoskeletal issues, seizures, and abnormalities of sensation, intelligence, communication, and behaviour. These kids have a lower capacity for regulating oral health because of their poor voluntary movements. Poor oral hygiene brought on by insufficient brushing and flossing, increased use of sugary foods, and orally administered drugs puts people at risk for periodontal disorders and dental caries. Poor dental health and rising therapy demands establish a sadistic cycle that affects patient overall health
