OBJECTIVE: To examine the effect of GnRH analogue (GnRH-a) on the quality of frozen-thawed embryos and the pregnancy rate (PR) resulting from transfer.
DESIGN: A retrospective study of two groups of women undergoing transfers of frozen-thawed embryos. In group 1 ovulation induction with hMG was begun after hypophyseal desensitization with GnRH-a for 2 weeks. In group 2 ovulation was induced with hMG only. The freezing and thawing techniques were identical for both groups.

Three pre-menopausal women with uterine myomas were treated with leuprolide acetate depot and experienced profuse vaginal bleeding 7-11 weeks after initiation of treatment, despite profound oestradiol suppression. As part of an ongoing international multicentre study, 19 children (14 girls, 5 boys) with central precocious puberty (CPP) were treated with a slow-release gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, triptorelin, for 4 years. Thirty children with precocious puberty (24 girls aged 6.5 +/- 2.3 years and 6 boys aged 7 +/- 2.9 years) were treated over 5 years with Decapeptyl. Current medical and surgical therapies of precocious puberty in McCune-Albright syndrome are often unsatisfactory. We used an aromatase inhibitor, testolactone, to treat precocious puberty in a girl with McCune-Albright syndrome. Hypothalamic hamartomas (HH) are rare congenital lesions of the tuber cinereum presenting with the classic triad of gelastic epilepsy, central precocious puberty (CPP) and developmental delay. In light of the important and diverse consequences of precocious puberty for affected children and their families, a correct diagnosis without delay is imperative. Ninety-five patients with stage C (C1 + C2) or D (D1 + D2) prostatic carcinoma were treated with the long-acting formulation of D-TRP-6 LH-RH (Decapeptyl) for up to 39 months. Of 88 patients evaluable for response, about one-half showed an objective response. In most cases, subjective improvement with relief of bone pain and/or urinary symptoms was obtained. Five patients claimed a mild increase in bone pain and one patient a slight worsening of dysuria following the first injection.
