Guidelines to Establish an Equitable Mobile Health Ecosystem.

Mobile health (mHealth)-that is, use of mobile devices, such as mobile phones, monitoring devices, personal digital assistants, and other wireless devices, in medical care-is a promising approach to the provision of support services. mHealth may aid in facilitating monitoring of mental health conditions, offering peer support, providing psychoeducation (i.e., information about mental health conditions), and delivering evidence-based practices. However, some groups may fail to benefit from mHealth despite a high need for mental health services, including people from racially and ethnically disa

Wireless light-gated photoelectrochemical microneedle wearables for zero-bias longitudinal monitoring in interstitial fluid.

Wearable chemical sensors could enable continuous health monitoring, but long-term measurements in interstitial fluid are limited by power consumption, electrochemical interference and signal drift during wear. Here we show a light-gated photoelectrochemical microneedle wearable for zero-bias chemical monitoring in subcutaneous interstitial fluid. The device combines a swelling-tolerant conductive hydrogel microneedle array, a plasmon-enhanced photoelectrode and a miniaturized module for light excitation, current recording and Bluetooth transmission. Visible light drives oxygen-mediated redox

Validation of the Milan Score Using Prolonged Wireless PH Monitoring.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: In 2024, a novel high-resolution manometry (HRM) metric termed the Milan Score was introduced to quantify anti-reflux barrier disruption and estimate the probability of pathologic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This composite score incorporates oesophagogastric junction (EGJ) barrier metrics, oesophageal motor function and response to the straight leg raise (SLR) manoeuvre. Prior validations relied on acid exposure time (AET) > 6% on 24-h pH-impedance studies, making the outcome susceptible to day-to-day variability. The aim of this study is to validate the effecti

Ultrasound-driven piezoelectric nanomaterial platform enables wireless neuromodulation for Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by progressive dysfunction of the basal ganglia circuitry, leading to both motor and cognitive impairments. Current neuromodulation strategies for deep brain targets remain highly invasive and lack precise spatiotemporal controllability. For example, traditional deep brain stimulation offers substantial relief from PD's movement-related symptoms by surgically placing electrodes in the subthalamic nucleus (STN), but this procedure carries substantial risks including intracranial hemorrhage and infection. Herein, we report an ultrasound-driven piezoelect

Magnetic field probe-based co-simulation method for irregular volume-type inductively coupled wireless MRI radiofrequency coils.

BACKGROUND: Inductively coupled wireless coils are increasingly used in MRI due to their cost-effectiveness and simplicity, eliminating the need for expensive components like preamplifiers, baluns, coil plugs, and coil ID circuits. Existing tools for predicting component values and electromagnetic (EM) fields are primarily designed for cylindrical volume coils, making them inadequate for irregular volume-type wireless coils. PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to introduce and validate a novel magnetic (H-) field probe-based co-simulation method to accurately predict capacitance values and EM f

Millimetre-scale bioresorbable optoelectronic systems for electrotherapy.

Temporary pacemakers are essential for the care of patients with short-lived bradycardia in post-operative and other settings1-4. Conventional devices require invasive open-heart surgery or less invasive endovascular surgery, both of which are challenging for paediatric and adult patients5-8. Other complications9-11 include risks of infections, lacerations and perforations of the myocardium, and of displacements of external power supplies and control systems. Here we introduce a millimetre-scale bioresorbable optoelectronic system with an onboard power supply and a wireless, optical control me

Tracking the journey: Gastrointestinal transit and intraluminal pH dynamics in aging populations using wireless motility capsule.

INTRODUCTION: Gastrointestinal (GI) changes may alter drug absorption, potentially impacting both efficacy and safety of oral pharmacotherapy. However, the GI physiology is rarely studied in the aging population. This study aimed to explore GI transit time and pH in geriatric inpatients and older adults, and compare these findings with those from young volunteers. METHODS: A prospective study was performed in geriatric inpatients and community-dwelling adults aged ≥ 75 years. GI transit and intraluminal pH were assessed by using a wireless motility capsule system. Participants' data were pool

Electromagnetic Cellularized Patch with Wirelessly Electrical Stimulation for Promoting Neuronal Differentiation and Spinal Cord Injury Repair.

Although stem cell therapy holds promise for the treatment of spinal cord injury (SCI), its practical applications are limited by the low degree of neural differentiation. Electrical stimulation is one of the most effective ways to promote the differentiation of stem cells into neurons, but conventional wired electrical stimulation may cause secondary injuries, inflammation, pain, and infection. Here, based on the high conductivity of graphite and the electromagnetic induction effect, graphite nanosheets with neural stem cells (NSCs) are proposed as an electromagnetic cellularized patch to gen

An ear-worn continuous ballistocardiogram (BCG) sensor for cardiovascular monitoring.

Traditionally, ballistocardiogram (BCG) has been measured using large and stationary devices. In this work, we demonstrate a portable and continuous BCG monitor that is wearable at the ear. The device has the form factor of a hearing aid and is wirelessly connected to a PC for data recording and analysis. With the ear as an anchoring point, the device uses a MEMS tri-axial accelerometer to measure BCG at the head. Morphological differences exist between head BCG and traditional BCG, but the principal peaks (J waves) and their vectors are preserved. The frequency of J waves corresponds to heart

Injectable hydrogel bioelectrostimulator for wireless deep brain neuromodulation.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is effective for treating neurological and psychiatric disorders. However, its tethered configuration, invasiveness, and limited tissue compatibility motivate wireless, minimally invasive alternatives. Here, we develop an in situ-gelled injectable conductive hydrogel (ICH), enabling wireless neuromodulation via electric-field localization under volume conduction. The ICH forms in vivo through bio-catalyzed polymerization and electrostatic self-assembly, yielding a stable, highly conductive, tissue-soft, and biocompatible network. Under high-frequency capacitive cou

Self-Powered Wireless Galvanic ECL Platform for On-Site Glutathione Detection.

In the realm of electrochemical systems for electrochemiluminescence (ECL) analysis, reliance on an external power source, whether connected directly or through a wireless energy transfer circuit, can be limiting and inconvenient. This study reveals an innovative approach using homemade galvanized Cu foam (GCF) prepared by electrodeposition of Zinc (Zn) metal on a selected or unmasked area of Cu foam functioning as both the power source and electrode. Interestingly, simple immersion of GCF in the Luminol/H2O2 system showed approximately 1500 times higher ECL intensity than without its presence
