ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Benincasa hispida possess substantial ethnopharmacological value across traditional medicines in Asia. It has been used traditionally for the management of various pathological conditions, including obesity, ulcers, epilepsy, bleeding piles, hyperacidity, haemoptysis, dysuria, and urinary calculi. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its nephroprotective potential in rodent models of acute and sub-chronic toxicity. However, its potential pharmacological targets and mechanisms underlying the ethnopharmacological aspects remains to be elucidated.

The authors report a retrospective study of 34 cases of blunt renal trauma affecting a pathological kidney out of a total of 156 cases of renal trauma. Renal hypouricemia (RHUC) is a heterogeneous inherited disorder characterized by impaired tubular uric acid (UA) transport with severe complications, such as acute kidney injury (AKI). Type 1 is caused by a loss-of-function mutation in the SLC22A12 gene (URAT1), type 2 in the SLC2A9 gene (GLUT9). This article describes three Czech families with RHUC type 1. OBJECTIVE: Set predictors of complications in percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) using the modified Clavien system.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Retrospective study included 172 PCNL in Galdakao position made in the La Ribera Hospital between January 2005 and December 2011. They classified the complications of these procedures using the modified Clavien system.
