Real-Time Protection of Person-Parameter Updating and Item Selection in Computerized Adaptive Testing Under Item Preknowledge Using Response-Time Evidence.

Computerized adaptive testing (CAT) is designed to enhance measurement precision and testing efficiency by sequentially updating interim person-parameter estimates and using these estimates to guide subsequent item selection and test termination. However, responses affected by item preknowledge can distort these estimates and, in turn, alter the subsequent course of the adaptive test. We propose a response-time-informed real-time adaptive protection framework that integrates within-examinee monitoring, protected person-parameter updating, and adaptive item selection within the CAT loop. Acceptability of Multilevel Sexual Health Interventions and Sexually Transmitted Infection Screening and Testing Among Persons With HIV Across Three Clinical Sites in Florida.

INTRODUCTION: The US state of Florida has the third highest rate of HIV and high rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) indicating critical HIV and STI prevention needs remain unmet. To address gaps in the STI care continuum in people with HIV (PWH), evidence-based interventions were implemented across 3 Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP)-funded clinics in Florida between August 2020 and August 2021. Interventions included comprehensive sexual health history (SHH) taking using audio computer-assisted self-interview (ACASI) software, self-collected extragenital gonorrhea and chlamydia

Towards a standardized approach of assessing social context of persons receiving home care in Flanders, Belgium: the development and test of a social supplement to the interRAI instruments.

BACKGROUND: Apart from a person's physical functioning, the early identification of social context indicators which affect patient outcomes - such as environmental and psychosocial issues - is key for high quality and comprehensive care at home. During a home care assessment, a person's biomedical and functional problems are typically considered. Harder to define concepts, such as psychosocial well-being or living arrangements, are not routinely documented, even though research shows they also affect functioning and health outcomes. The purpose of this study is to develop and test a concise, i

Serial Laboratory Testing for SARS-CoV-2 Infection Among Incarcerated and Detained Persons in a Correctional and Detention Facility - Louisiana, April-May 2020.

Transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), by asymptomatic and presymptomatic persons poses important challenges to controlling spread of the disease, particularly in congregate settings such as correctional and detention facilities (1). On March 29, 2020, a staff member in a correctional and detention facility in Louisiana developed symptoms† and later had a positive test result for SARS-CoV-2. During April 2-May 7, two additional cases were detected among staff members, and 36 cases were detected among incarcerated and detained persons at the facil

Symptomatic HIV-positive persons in rural Mozambique who first consult a traditional healer have delays in HIV testing: a cross-sectional study.

OBJECTIVE: Delays in HIV diagnosis and initiation of antiretroviral therapy are common even among symptomatic individuals in Africa. We hypothesized that antiretroviral therapy delays might be more common if traditional healers (THs) were the first practitioners consulted. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. METHODS: We interviewed 530 newly diagnosed HIV-infected adults (≥18 years of age) who were clinically symptomatic at the time of HIV testing in 2 rural districts in Zambézia Province, Mozambique. We ascertained their previous health care seeking behavior, duration of their symptoms, CD4 cell

Safety assessment of enzyme-containing personal cleansing products: exposure characterization and development of IgE antibody to enzymes after a 6-month use test.

BACKGROUND: Enzyme-containing personal cleansing products were being considered for the consumer market. Although enzymes have been marketed safely for many years as ingredients in laundry products, their use in a personal cleansing application represented a new type of exposure for consumers that was not supported by the historical safety data. An exposure assessment and additional safety data would be needed before marketing to ensure consumer safety. OBJECTIVE: The work in this paper was designed to evaluate the potential for inhalation exposure to the enzyme during use of this new product

The increased perceived exertion during the six minute walking test is not accompanied by changes in cost of walking, gait characteristics or muscle fatigue in persons with multiple sclerosis.

BACKGROUND: Persons with Multiple Sclerosis (pwMS) frequently experience walking difficulties, often expressed as a slower walking speed during the 6 Minute Walking Test (6MWT). In addition, slower walking speeds are also related to higher levels of perceived exertion. PwMS are also known to have a higher energetic Cost of walking (Cw) and may experience muscle fatigue during prolonged walking. In this study, we aimed to explore changes in Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) and the Cw within participants during the 6MWT in pwMS. Additionally, concomitant changes in the mean and variability of ga

Factors Associated with Time Since Last HIV Test Among Persons at High Risk for HIV Infection, National Survey of Family Growth, 2006-2010.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual HIV screening for persons at high risk for HIV infection. We assessed the testing history and factors associated with recent testing (tested in the last 12 months) among persons at high risk for HIV infection. We analyzed 2006-2010 National Survey of Family Growth data and classified respondents aged 15-44 who reported a sexual or drug-use risk behavior in the past year as 'high-risk'. Logistic regression models estimated prevalence ratios assessing the association between demographic and health-related factors and having b

Behavioral Signatures in a Situational Judgment Test for Criterion B Borderline Pathology: Predicting Criterion A Personality Functioning Beyond Traditional Questionnaire-Based Trait Assessment.

The DSM-5 Alternative Model of Personality Disorders assesses personality pathology along two criteria: Criterion A (personality functioning) and criterion B (maladaptive traits). While Criterion B assessment yields valuable insight into overall trait levels, it fails to capture how traits manifest across situations, which is particularly relevant for traits marked by high within-person variability, such as those seen in borderline personality pathology (BPP). To capture this within-person variability, the current study leverages Criterion Profile Analysis to investigate whether behavioral sig

Characteristics of Received HIV Prevention Advocacy from Persons Living with HIV in Uganda, and Associations with HIV Testing and Condom Use Among Social Network Members.

Receiving peer advocacy has been shown to result in increased HIV protective behaviors, but little research has gone beyond assessment of the mere presence of advocacy to examine aspects of advocacy driving these effects. With baseline data from a controlled trial of an advocacy training intervention, we studied characteristics of HIV prevention advocacy received among 599 social network members of persons living with HIV in Uganda and the association of these characteristics with the social network members' recent HIV testing (past six months) and consistent condom use, as well as perceived i

Differences between persons with and without disability in HIV prevalence, testing, treatment, and care cascade in Tanzania: a cross-sectional study using population-based data.

BACKGROUND: Persons with disability may have a higher HIV prevalence and be less likely than persons without disability to know their HIV-positive status, access antiretroviral therapy (ART), and suppress their HIV viral load (HIV care cascade). However, studies examining differences between persons with and without disability in HIV prevalence and the HIV care cascade are lacking. Using the Tanzania HIV Impact Survey (THIS) data collected between October 2016 and August 2017, we assessed differences in HIV prevalence and progress towards achieving the 2020 HIV care cascade target between pers
