Necrotic testicular tumors are relatively frequent and can present a significant diagnostic challenge. Because of differing treatments for seminomas versus nonseminomas, accurate diagnosis is critical. Review of the management of 6 young girls with vaginal yolk sac tumor over 25 years showed that the α-fetoprotein levels normalized in 5/6 within 4 cycles of primary cisplatin, bleomycin, etoposide (PEB)/carboplatin, etoposide, bleomycin (JEB)/cisplatin, vinblastine, bleomycin (PVB) chemotherapy. Twenty-three cases of testicular tumor (10; malignant, 13; benign) in childhood are reported. The age at diagnosis was between 3 months old and 8 years old. Twenty nine cases of primary mediastinal germ cell tumours (MGCT) were seen at the Tata Memorial Hospital over a 16--year period (1974-1989). There were 5 benign MGCT occurring predominantly in females (80%), with these patients having an excellent result after surgery with all patients disease free at an median follow-up of 27 months. BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCT) are a relatively uncommon tumor affecting neonates, infants, and children. This study was designed to determine the effect of therapy on the long-term outcome of neonates and children with sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCT).

OBJECTIVES: Our objective was to explore the pathologic components of residual masses after primary chemotherapy in patients with metastatic nonseminomatous germ cell tumors.
METHODS: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted of 71 patients with thoracic residual masses (39 patients had bilateral lung metastasis) after first-line cisplatin-based chemotherapy for disseminated nonseminomatous germ cell tumors. Kidney cortex is a main target for circulating vitamin B12 (cobalamin) in complex with transcobalamin (TC). Ligand blotting of rabbit kidney cortex with rabbit 125I-TC-B12 and human TC-57Co-B12 revealed an exclusive binding to megalin, a 600-kDa endocytic receptor present in renal proximal tubule epithelium and other absorptive epithelia.
