In this research, we analyzed the protective effects of red-fleshed apple flavonoid extracts (RAFEs) on male reproductive injury induced by busulfan, using both in vitro and in vivo models. In the cell-based experiments, RAFEs significantly improved cell viability and proliferation rates compared to control groups. In the present study, the effect of short wave ultraviolet light (UV-C) on the inactivation of Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris DSM 3922 spores in commercial pasteurized white grape and apple juices was investigated. The burden of food waste highlights the need for effective, scalable preservation strategies. Herein, we developed a natural, biocompatible, plant-based, and consumer-friendly metal-phenolic-agar (MPN-Agar) coating for postharvest preservation. The coating was formed through coordination between micronutrient ions (e.g., Zn2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, and Fe3+) and tannic acid within an agar matrix, producing stable microscale colloidal particles.
