Blemished noses are portrayed in the paintings of such noted artists as Ghirlandaio, Rembrandt, and Andy Warhol. Sometimes, the deformity results from a skin disorder such as rhinophyma as in Ghirlandaio's An Old Man and his Grandson or a saddle nose deformity from congenital syphilis as in Rembrandt's Portrait of Gerard de Lairesse. Andy Warhol's Before and After portrays a large nose before and after cosmetic surgery. This contribution explores some of the lessons that can be learned, both artistically and medically, from these famous works of art.

Cancerous changes occur most frequently in four types of chronic acquired lesions: rare lupus scars and those of long-standing burns, rhinophymas, and radiodermatitis. Insufficient therapy is often applied because of underestimation of potential changes, fear of hemorrhage, or lack of knowledge of the extent of the lesion. The ulcerous forms and those developing in scar tissue have the poorest prognosis, and this also applies to centrofacial basal cell epitheliomas. Recurrences after radiotherapy are of bad omen, and they must be treated by wide surgical excision.

BACKGROUND: Electrosurgery has been used for many decades in medicine. Some machines generate ultra-high frequency current waveforms (radiosurgery), which minimize collateral tissue damage.
OBJECTIVE: Personal experience using radiosurgery in the performance of cosmetic surgery is related in the narrative form to offer the reader a "how we do it" perspective.
CONCLUSION: Radiosurgery facilitates the performance of blepharoplasty, face lifting, hair restoration surgery, abdominoplasty, nasal reduction sculpturing of rhinophyma, and minor cosmetic procedures. Collateral heat damage is minimal

A new CO2 laser system, of special characteristics, has been found to be effective for CO2 laser dermatological surgery. The unit is compact, freely movable, and suitable for office practice. A highly flexible operating probe makes for precision surgery. The initial investigative clinical series included resistant warts in many areas including extensive plantar warts, oral lesions, and condylomata. There were also excisions of broad base granuloma pyogenicum, large seborrheic warty lesions, thermal photocoagulation of rhinophyma, and laser dermabrasion of tattoos. Flaps were done in animals.

Rosacea is a chronic skin disorder of the face. Initially erythema and telangiectasia develop, followed at a later stage by papules and papulopustules. We present an unusual case of massive dermal cylindroma (turban tumor), occupying the entire scalpand forehead. It was treated by a total scalping procedure and skin grafting in two stages.
