Influence of ginsenoside Rg1, a panaxatriol saponin from Panax notoginseng, on renal fibrosis in rats with unilateral ureteral obstruction.

Total saponins of Panax notoginseng (PNS) have been shown to ameliorate renal interstitial fibrosis. Ginsenoside Rg1, a panaxatriol saponin, is one of the major active molecules from PNS. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of ginsenoside Rg1 on renal fibrosis in rats with unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO). The rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: sham-operation (n=15), UUO (n=15) and UUO with ginsenoside Rg1 treatment (n=15, 50 mg per kg body weight, intraperitoneally (i.p.) injected). The rats were sacrificed on Days 7 and 14 after the surgery. Histological ex

Ginsenoside Rb3 Combined with 20(S)-Protopanaxadiol Ameliorates Hypercholesterolemia via the Regulation of Lipid Metabolism and Gut Microbiota.

Hypercholesterolemia is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease and imposes a serious global disease burden. The stems and leaves of Panax notoginseng, as edible parts of the plant, are rich in ginsenoside Rb3. However, the lipid-lowering effects and mechanism of ginsenoside Rb3 remain unclear, which limits the utilization of Panax notoginseng stems and leaves. Our results showed that ginsenoside Rb3, particularly with PPD, inhibited cholesterol absorption, enhanced LDLR-mediated LDL uptake, reduced body weight, alleviated dyslipidemia, and attenuated liver injury and lipid accumulation.

Ginsenoside CK regulates non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by regulating liver fat metabolism and gut microbiota.

The global incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is on a continuous rise, characterized by hepatic lipid metabolism disorder and gut microbiota dysbiosis. Although ginsenoside compound K (CK) exhibits hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory activities, its specific role in the pathogenesis of NAFLD remains to be fully elucidated. In this study, a high-fat-high-cholesterol (HFHC) diet-induced NAFLD mouse model was used to investigate the protective effects of CK against the disease. The results demonstrated that CK intervention significantly attenuated HFHC diet-induced body wei

Multifunctional ginsenoside Rg3-integrated liposomes for synergistic chemo-photothermal-immunotherapy against multidrug-resistant breast cancer.

Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer-related mortality in women, and the development of multidrug resistance (MDR) severely limits the effectiveness of chemotherapy. To address this challenge, a multifunctional liposomal system (RID-LPs) was developed by replacing cholesterol with ginsenoside Rg3 and encapsulating indocyanine green (ICG) and cisplatin (DDP); ICG functions as a photothermal agent capable of generating heat under 808 nm irradiation, while DDP serves as the chemotherapeutic drug, and DSPE-PEG2000 was incorporated to prolong systemic circulation. Ginsenoside Rg3 contribut

Synergistic remodeling of psoriatic immune niche via ginsenoside CK/tofacitinib co-loaded dermal targeting transfersomes.

Effective topical management of psoriasis is significantly hindered by the robust stratum corneum barrier and the complex inflammatory network residing in the dermis. To overcome these challenges, we developed a novel transfersomes (TFs) - based delivery system for the co-delivery of Ginsenoside CK (CK) and JAK inhibitor Tofacitinib (TOF). Uniquely, CK was employed to substitute cholesterol in the lipid bilayer. This design leveraged the unique pharmacological and structural properties of CK to modulate membrane properties while functioning as a potent immune regulator. The optimized TFs exhib
