Elevator accidents are rare but can cause catastrophic damage, and an analysis of the causes of accidents and preventive measures is necessary. This study analyzed seven deaths from six autopsy cases of accidental elevator deaths that were inspected at a single forensic institution. Four cases occurred during industrial use of the elevator. Two cases occurred during elevator inspection. One case occurred in a home elevator. Three cases were because of human causes and three were owing to mechanical causes of the elevators. All fatalities were caused by severe head or thoracoabdominal injuries

On the basis of several years' material the mechanical lesions combined with burns are analysed by the authors and the diagnostical and therapeutical problems are dealt with. On the basis of their experiences it is pointed out that in the case of primary surgical management the reciprocal aggravating effect does not develop. Even in second-degree burned area primary healing of the suture following the wound excision has been observed. Extension treatment of the fracture is but rarely successful, the ideal method is the stable osteosynthesis.

OBJECTIVE:: To describe emergency care for external causes in childhood, age group 0-9 years, in Brazilian capitals, collected from the Violence and Accident Surveillance System (VIVA) Survey in 2014.

Out of 5031 children admitted to S.N. Hospital, Agra during one year, there were 716 cases (14.2%) of accidents. Most cases were in the age group of 4-9 years; boys were affected more commonly than girls. The maximum cases occurred due to fall (44.4%), followed by road traffic accidents (26.4%) and burns (11.5%). The consequences in terms of morbidity and mortality was also high. Kerosene oil ingestion was the most common encountered form of poisoning. Incriminating environmental factors could be identified in 51.8% cases and included poorly protected roofs (23.7%), poor state of roads (10.0%)

Consumption of alcohol increases the risk of dying a violent death. We wanted to establish a connection between harmful alcohol use and dying a violent death. We analyzed all such victims in the extended region of Ljubljana. The research included 1630 deceased, who were autopsied at the Forensic Institute of the Ljubljana, Faculty of Medicine in the period from 1995 to 1999. The mortality profile of female nurses and teachers in British Columbia (BC) was examined using age-standardized proportional mortality ratios (PMRs) calculated for the period 1950-1984.
