BACKGROUND: Various biologic agents targeting specific molecules present new treatment options for various tumors. Acneiform eruption is a very common skin reaction to these agents. Although not life-threatening, acneiform eruption can affect patients' emotional and social lives. In very exceptional cases, it can lead to cancer therapy interruption.
AIMS: The aim of this study was to review the incidence rate, clinical characteristics, pathogenesis, and current management of acneiform eruption induced by molecularly targeted agents.

Acneiform eruption is a devastating cutaneous side effect of cetuximab, a monoclonal antibody used to treat a variety of cancers. Despite its effectiveness, many patients avoid or discontinue it after experiencing its dermatological side effects as it negatively impacts their quality of life (QoL). Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) antagonists are used to treat many autoimmune disorders including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and more recently, psoriasis. The adverse effects of the treatment regimen for psoriasis are not as well documented as those for Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis. We report the development of acne vulgaris in 3 patients with psoriasis after initiating anti-TNF-alpha therapy.

Dasatinib is a second-generation tyrosine inhibitor that is used for the treatment of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
