Adenomatoid hyperplasia belongs to the group of hyperplastic duct lesions of the pancreas. We report a 60-year-old man with adenomatoid hyperplasia of the pancreas, presenting as a mass lesion. The patient underwent pancreatico-duodenectomy uneventfully. The unusual location of the mass in the head of pancreas, the imaging and macroscopic appearance, dense fibrous stroma on histology and prominent expression of p21ras protein point towards a distinct subtype.

Uterine adenomatoid tumors (UATs) are benign tumors of the uterine serosa and myometrium that originate from the mesothelium and forming gland-like structures. This study was conducted in order to determine the true incidence of UATs, which are usually an incidental finding during uterine surgery performed for other causes. UATs may resemble pre-existing vessels and lymphatic ducts, as well as metastatic adenocarcinomas. A total of 199 consecutive surgical operations (134 hysterectomies and 65 uterus-preserving tumor excisions) were performed by a single team of gynecologists and examined by a…

OBJECTIVES: To present a new case of adenomatoid tumor of the epididymis, the first report in our hospital since 1962.
METHODS: We report a clinical case with a brief bibliographic review about adenomatoid tumor of the epididymis. The diagnostic and therapeutic implications are discussed focusing on the role of ultrasound and immunohistochemical studies.
RESULTS: A 30-year-old man presented pain and inflammation in the left epididymis. Physical examination and ultrasound study demonstrated a tumor of 5x5x2 cm. It was removed and the histopathological study was compatible with adenomatoid tum…

Three rare variants of the adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) are described. A follicular AOT associated with an impacted and displaced 28, an extra-follicular variant mimicking a radicular cyst around the apex of 23 and a peripheral (epulis-like) variant exhibiting a periodontal bone defect palatal to 21. On reappraisal of the origin and pathogenesis of the AOT, it would seem that this tumor or hamartomatous lesion is derived from odontogenic epithelium of the dental lamina complex or its remnants.

The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) represents 3-7% of all odontogenic tumors, and over 750 cases have been reported in the literature. This lesion was formerly considered to be a variant of the ameloblastoma and was designated as adenoameloblastoma. These lesions may infrequently produce dentinoid material and rarely enamel matrix. Consequently, the WHO (2005) classification of odontogenic lesions considered this process to represent a mixed odontogenic neoplasm. We present a case of a 12-year-old female patient with an AOT of diameter 5 cm × 5 cm located in the anterolateral region of th

INTRODUCTION: Paratesticular tumors are rare. Most of them are benign, and adenomatoid tumors are most common. These tumors sometimes infiltrate the testicular parenchyma and require differential diagnosis with malignant tumors. In such cases, intraoperative biopsy allows for performing conservative surgery.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective study of nine patients with paratesticular adenomatoid tumors seen during a nine-year period (2000-2008) is reported.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Patient age (mean, 49.6 years) and most common initial signs (tender nodule) are reported. The tumor most …

We present a case of coexistence of an ectopic pregnancy and an adenomatoid tumor in the same fallopian tube. The adenomatoid tumor is the most common benign neoplasm of the fallopian tube, and the vast majority of ectopic pregnancies occur in the fallopian tube. However, coexistence of these two conditions is extremely rare, and there has been only one previously reported case in the English literature. In the present case, the placental tissue, consisting of chorionic villi and decidua, was present in the ampulla, and the adenomatoid tumor was found in the myosalpinx, just proximal to the im…

An adenomatoid odontogenic tumor has been reported which was not connected with any impacted or displaced tooth. The clinical and radiographical results were consistent with a non-odontogenic cyst, but in this case the pathohistological examination revealed string-like and partly cross-linked cells of odontogenic epithelium as well as solid aggregates of epithelia, possessing gland-like structures at their centers. Furthermore, small deposits of PAS-positive materials could be seen which could be interpreted as non-mineralized dentine with a tubular basic structure. The therapy consisted of co

Case report of a 42-year old patient with an epididymal adenomatoid tumour found after a three-month history of increased left hemiscrotum and scrotal discomfort. Definite diagnosis was arrived at following surgical exeresis and pathoanatomical study. The etiopatogenesis, clinical presentation and management are all analyzed. Since urological incidence is very low within intrascrotal processes, we believe it is important to understand the condition so that a differential diagnosis from other inflammatory processes can be established; also the convenience of a much more aggressive attitude in s

Adenomatoid tumor (AT) is a benign growth that originates from mesothelial cells. Typically, it encompasses the uterus, fallopian tubes, and paratesticular area. One-third of all AT is in paratesticular area, and it accounts for 60% of all benign paratesticular tumors. ATs have been seldom reported as a case report in adrenal gland, liver, pleura, and mediastinal cavity. To date, English literature has only documented 46 instances of adrenal AT. We present the occurrence of a new clinically unexpected case of adrenal AT in a 37-year-old male patient. Computed tomography (CT scan) incidentally …

An adenomatoid tumor (AT) is a benign lesion, which is commonly located in the genital tract of both sexes. We present a case of a 66-yr-old woman with the unusual characteristics of an AT mimicking peritoneal carcinomatosis. The tumor was detected incidentally by ultrasound examination, and an ensuing imaging study raised suspicion of ovarian cancer with peritoneal carcinomatosis. From the pathologic diagnosis of frozen specimens, clear cell carcinoma was noted and the patient subsequently underwent cytoreductive surgery. An 8.5-cm-sized mass was observed on the uterine serosa, extending into…

Testicular adenomatoid tumor is very rare. More understanding of the tumor and treatment is required for better outcomes. A 63-year-old man visited a urologist for staghorn calculus. During follow-up, he had recurrent left flank pain and intermittent hematuria. Computed tomography demonstrated left staghorn calculus, and then further assessment revealed left testicular swelling. Ultrasound showed epididymal mass. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy was deferred and we performed left radical orchiectomy. A pathologic examination revealed testicular adenomatoid tumor. This case highlights the importanc…

Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a rare tumor of epithelial origin comprising 3% of all the odontogenic tumors. It is a benign, painless, noninvasive, and slow-growing lesion, with a relative frequency of 2.2-13% and often misdiagnosed as an odontogenic cyst on clinical examination. AOT affects young individuals with a female predominance, occurs mainly in the second decade, and usually surrounds the crown of unerupted teeth. This lesion is most commonly located in the anterior maxilla and rarely in the mandible. It is usually associated with an impacted canine. AOT frequently resembles

A case of an adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) simulating a globulo-maxillary cyst is described. Clinical, radiographic and microscopic findings as well as the differential diagnosis are discussed. The present case brings the number of AOT cases without any relationship to an impacted tooth to 23; the number of cases resembling a globulo-maxillary cyst to 6.

An adenomatoid tumor from the round ligament of a 50-year-old woman was studied by light and electron microscopy. Ultrastructurally the tumor was remarkably similar to normal as well as neoplastic mesothelium, thus lending further support to the concept of a mesothelial origin of adenomatoid tumors. Comparative histochemical and ultrastructural studies revealed presence of acid mucopolysaccharides mainly along the luminal borders of the tumor cells, thus indicating likely production of this material by the tumor cells as opposed to the stromal cells. The stroma was rich in elastic fibers and t…

UNLABELLED: Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor (AOT) is a benign tumor of rare recurrence, most prevalent in females and anterior region of the maxilla. We report an atypical occurrence of follicular AOT in the anterior mandibular region in male patient and its surgical approach. Twenty-six years-old male presented swelling in the right anterior mandibular region. Radiography showed a radiolucent well-circumscribed lesion, associated with unerupted tooth right permanent mandibular canine. Incisional biopsy and installation of decompressive device were performed. First histopathological diagnosis wa
