Renal angiomyolipoma is a rare benign tumour, often associated with congenital diseases especially de Bourneville's tuberous sclerosis. Bilateral angiomyolipoma is exceptional. The authors report a case of bilateral renal angiomyolipoma in a 33-year-old patient presenting with haemorrhagic shock. In the light of this case and a review of the literature, the authors discuss the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of this disease.

Renal angiomyolipoma (AML) encompasses benign variants (lipomatous [L-AML], myomatous [M-AML]) and epithelioid AML (eAML), a potentially malignant subtype associated with aggressive behavior. BACKGROUND: Epithelioid angiomyolipoma is defined as potentially malignant mesenchymal neoplasm, characterized by proliferating epithelioid cells, whereas classic angiomyolipoma, composed of fat, smooth muscle cells and dysmorphic vessels, is defined as a potentially benign. Angiomyolipoma (AML) is a tumor which commonly affects the kidney. Few authors have been reported AML in the oral cavity. In this clinical report, an AML of the hard palate will be presented in a 48-year-old patient. Angiomyolipomas are hamartomatous lesions consisting of smooth muscle bundles, thick-walled blood vessels, and mature adipocytes. They are usually found in the kidneys of tuberous sclerosis patients and more rarely in other organs, such as the liver, the oral cavity, the sinonasal tract, the heart, the large intestines, the lungs, and the skin. Cutaneous angiomyolipoma has shown to be very rare and generally occurs at the ends of the digits, the elbows, the ears, and the nose. Herein, we report the first documented case of angiomyolipoma of the glabellar region.

Epithelioid angiomyolipoma (eAMLoma) is an uncommon renal mesenchymal tumor with malignant potential and is frequently associated with tuberous sclerosis (TSC). It is composed of polygonal large-sized tumor cells arranged in an epithelioid manner. A 37-year-old female was referred to our department for a renal mass which was incidentally found during a medical check-up. She had no history of tuberous sclerosis. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed a 1.5-cm enhancing mass at the lower pole of the left kidney. A cutaneous angiomyolipoma, which is also known as a cutaneous angiolipoleiomyoma, is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor. Only 18 cases have been reported in the English literature. We describe a case of an angiomyolipoma presenting on the right ear helix of a 26-year-old female. The histopathologic examination revealed a typical form of an angiomyolipoma with a proliferation of mature adipocytes. As with all previously reported cases, our patient did not present with the stigmata of tuberous sclerosis. This is the 20th reported case of cutaneous angiomyolipoma and the 3rd reported case in Korea.

Angiomyolipoma is a common tumor of the kidney but has rarely been found in the mediastinum. We report a case of angiomyolipoma of the posterior mediastinum in a 62-year-old woman. She experienced exertional dyspnea and intermittent cough at admission. OBJECTIVE: To present our experience with renal angiomyolipoma.
METHODS: The series comprised 27 patients (26 female, 1 male) with renal angiomyolipoma. Twenty-three (85%) had unilateral renal involvement and of the 4 remaining patients (15%) with bilateral involvement, three (10%) had tuberous sclerosis.
RESULTS: Due to the complications, three patients with bilateral and one patient with unilateral renal involvement required surgery. Mean patient follow-up was 38 months.

Extrarenal angiomyolipomas are very rare. Here we report the first case of surgically resected angiomyolipoma of the descending colon that developed in a 50-yr-old man. Pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare disorder that affects women and can lead to serious respiratory impairment. Since Bourneville's tuberous sclerosis (TS) was first reported, the striking similarities between the two entities have led many to believe that LAM is a forme fruste of TS. INTRODUCTION: Angiomyolipoma is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor. It often arises in the kidney and in association with tuberous sclerosis or lymphangioléiomyomatosis. Extrarenal locations have been described, especially in the liver. A 54-year-old male presented with massive hematuria with bladder tamponade.
