Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma Management in East and Southeast Asia: Real-World Challenges and Aspirations of the Asian Lymphoma Study Group.

PURPOSE: Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) encompass a group of rare and diverse disease entities for which contemporary frontline treatment options are limited. Patient outcomes for PTCL remain poor globally, and disparities in health care resources and health care system variability across East and Southeast Asia (hereafter referred to as Asia) further complicate PTCL management in the region. This article reviews the practice landscape for PTCL in Asia, provides a nuanced perspective on the challenges faced by physicians in the region, and suggests how patient outcomes can be improved. M

Mapping respiratory health digital interventions in South and Southeast Asia: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: The growing burden of respiratory disease, particularly in Asia, where mortality is higher and awareness and policy engagement lag, could be mitigated through rapidly advancing digital health tools that offer opportunities for improved management, prevention, and personal health empowerment. We aimed to map the existing evidence, technologies, opportunities, and gaps related to respiratory digital health interventions in South and Southeast Asia and propose relevant recommendations. METHODS: We used a scoping review methodology, where we searched MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO,

Paragonimiasis in Southeast Asia: A 60-Year Bibliometric Analysis (1963-2023).

PURPOSE: Paragonimiasis is a neglected tropical disease, often mistaken with common respiratory diseases, has resulted in substantial global literature. However, there is a notable lack of comprehensive literature specifically focused on paragonimiasis in Southeast Asia (SEA). To address this gap, we conducted a bibliometric assessment to provide an overview of existing literature on this disease. METHODS: A literature search was performed in SCOPUS, with metadata analysis using the Bibliometrix package in R. Network visualization was conducted through VOSViewer 1.6.20. Additionally, country-

Is there an impending epidemic of myopia in Southeast Asia? An appraisal of the evidence.

Predictions on the future prevalence of myopia suggest one of the Global Burden of Disease regions will develop an epidemic like in East Asia and Singapore in Southeast Asia. This paper analyses the available evidence on prevalence of myopia in this region, concluding that the bulk of the evidence suggests that the prevalence of myopia at the end of schooling is still modest, although two papers suggest that in young adults in Thailand and Indonesia, the prevalence of myopia may be approaching levels typical of the epidemic of myopia. It also analyses an indicator of expected years of educatio

Regional Differences in Cancer Research Trends in East and Southeast Asia Based on Analyses of the PubMed Registry.

OBJECTIVE: Cancer represents a major and growing public health burden across Asia, yet cancer research capacity, priorities, and methodologies vary substantially between East Asia (EA) and Southeast Asia (SEA). How scientific activity has evolved across these regions over time remains incompletely characterized. METHODS: We conducted a large-scale bibliometric and text-mining analysis of PubMed-indexed cancer-related publications from 2000 to 2025, covering 18 countries and territories in EA and SEA. Publication metadata, Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), author affiliations, and country infor

Celiac Disease in Asia beyond the Middle East and Indian subcontinent: Epidemiological burden and diagnostic barriers.

Celiac Disease (CD) had been considered uncommon in Asia for a long time. However, several studies suggested that, in the Indian subcontinent and Middle East countries, CD is present and as prevalent as in Western countries. Outside these Asian regions, the information about the epidemiology of CD is still lacking or largely incomplete for different and variable reasons. Here, we discuss the epidemiological aspects and the diagnostic barriers in several Asian regions including China, Japan, Southeast Asia and Russia/Central Asia. In some of those regions, especially Russia and Central Asia, th

Cholera outbreaks in South and Southeast Asia: descriptive analysis, 2003-2012.

We conducted descriptive analysis of available information regarding the epidemiology of cholera outbreaks in South and Southeast Asia during 2003-2012. Information from 58 articles, 8 reports, and World Health Organization databases were analyzed. Overall, 113 cholera outbreaks were studied in South and Southeast Asia during the past 10 years. The majority of the outbreaks (69%) occurred in Southeast Asia, including India (52%). The highest number of outbreaks was observed in 2004 (25.7%). The most commonly identified source was contaminated water: however, in some countries, the spread of ch

Medicine price and affordability in China and selected ASEAN countries: a cross-country comparison with forward-looking implications for regional pooled procurement.

BACKGROUND: The China-ASEAN regional medical procurement platform was launched in early 2025. However, the scope and operational mechanisms of the platform remain unclear. This study aims to assess medicine prices and affordability in China and ASEAN countries, explore potential implementation challenges of the platform, provide policy suggestions. METHODS: We selected commonly used medicines from four ATC categories (alimentary tract and metabolism, cardiovascular system, anti-infective for systemic use, nervous system). Prices were standardized to WHO defined-daily-dose (DDD) prices and con

Country-level indices in predictive models of helminth infections: Perspectives from Southeast Asia.

Predictive models integrating country-level indices with individual variables offer valuable insights into soil-transmitted helminth (STH) infection risk among migrant populations. However, national indicators such as the Human Development Index and sanitation coverage may inadequately capture the heterogeneous exposure risks within and beyond countries of origin. Drawing on experiences from Southeast Asia, we highlight limitations of relying solely on aggregated metrics and emphasize the importance of incorporating post-migration factors, including living conditions and occupational exposures

Prevalence of Getah Virus in Mammals in East and Southeast Asia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Getah virus (GETV) has reemerged as an important mosquito-borne pathogen affecting livestock health in East and Southeast Asia. To quantify its epidemiological patterns, we conducted a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA)-compliant meta-analysis of literature published between 2000 and September 2025. Analysis of 24 observational studies covering swine, equine, bovine, caprine, and wildlife populations using a random-effects model revealed a pooled mammalian seroprevalence of 26% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.17-0.38) and a pooled nucleic acid positivi
