The synbiotic mixture of lactulose and Bacillus coagulans protects intestinal barrier dysfunction and apoptosis in weaned piglets challenged with lipopolysaccharide.

BACKGROUND: Lactulose as an effective prebiotic protects intestinal mucosal injury. Bacillus coagulans is widely used in feed additives because of its ability to promote intestinal health. Our previous study suggests that the combination of lactulose and Bacillus coagulans may be a good candidate as alternative for antibiotic growth promoters. However, the in vivo effects of lactulose and Bacillus coagulans on growth and intestinal health under immune challenge in piglets remains unclear. The objective of this study is to explore the protective effects of synbiotic containing lactulose and Bac

Bacillus coagulans LMG S-24828 Impairs Candida Virulence and Protects Vaginal Epithelial Cells against Candida Infection In Vitro.

Probiotics are living microbes that provide benefits to the host. The growing data on health promotion, following probiotics administration, increased interest among researchers and pharmaceutical companies. Infections of the lower genital tract in females, caused by a wide range of pathogens, represent one of the main areas for the use of probiotics and postbiotics. Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) affects 75% of women of reproductive age at least once during their lifetime, with 5-8% developing the recurrent form (RVVC). The disease is triggered by the overgrowth of Candida on the vaginal muco

Different effects of Bacillus coagulans vegetative cells and spore isolates on constipation-induced gut microbiota dysbiosis in mice.

Bacillus coagulans (B. coagulans) can improve and prevent functional gastrointestinal disorders. However, there has been little discussion in the literature on the difference between spores and vegetative cells for relieving constipation. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of Bacillus coagulans (B. coagulans) vegetative cells and spores against loperamide-induced constipation in mice. According to our findings, B. coagulans vegetative cells and spores differ in their ability to relieve loperamide-induced constipation. Two of the three strains of B. coagulans spores used in

Bacillus coagulans MZY531 alleviates intestinal mucosal injury in immunosuppressive mice via modulating intestinal barrier, inflammatory response, and gut microbiota.

Bacillus coagulans has a potential role in improving intestinal injury. However, the specific mechanism is still unclear. In this study, the protective effect of B. coagulans MZY531 on intestinal mucosa injury in cyclophosphamide (CYP)-induced immunosuppressed mice were investigated. The results indicated that the immune organ (thymus and spleen) indices of B. coagulans MZY531 treatment groups were significantly increased compared to the CYP group. B. coagulans MZY531 administration promotes the expression of immune proteins (IgA, IgE, IgG, and IgM). B. coagulans MZY531 could upregulate the il

Effects of Bacillus coagulans supplementation on the growth performance and gut health of broiler chickens with Clostridium perfringens-induced necrotic enteritis.

Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common postoperative complication, characterized by acute, transient and fluctuating declines in consciousness and attention, with an incidence that increases with age. POD is associated with various adverse postoperative outcomes, including prolonged hospital stays, higher medical costs and increased morbidity and mortality rates. Moreover, it has been suggested that POD, as an early manifestation of postoperative cognitive impairment, may serve as a precursor to long‑term cognitive dysfunction. Given its considerable clinical impact, the prevention and manag

Sleep-promoting effects and mechanisms of Bacillus coagulans IDCC 1201: evidence from pentobarbital-induced sleep and electroencephalography analysis in mice.

Recent studies have explored the potential of probiotics to modulate sleep, particularly via neurotransmitter pathways. Bacillus coagulans IDCC 1201 is a high γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-producing strain, second only to Lactobacillus johnsonii IDCC 9203. This study investigated the sleep-promoting efficacy of B. coagulans IDCC 1201 using a pentobarbital-induced sleep model and electroencephalography (EEG)-based sleep architecture analysis. In the pentobarbital-induced sleep test, B. coagulans IDCC 1201 at ≥1 × 108 CFU per day significantly reduced sleep latency and increased sleep duration, sho

Bacillus coagulans protect against Salmonella enteritidis-induced intestinal mucosal damage in young chickens by inducing the differentiation of goblet cells.

Bacillus coagulans (B. coagulans) have proven to be effective in improving the development of gut immunity and microbiome, and offering protection against pathogens, especially in young animals. The newborn chicks are highly vulnerable to the foodborne pathogenic Salmonella infections, leading to high mortality and economic loss. However, whether B. coagulans can protect young chickens from Salmonella-induced intestinal mucosal damage by modulating the development of intestinal epithelium remains unclear. In this study, B. coagulans with excellent anti-Salmonella property was selected and used

Improving nutritional quality and aflatoxin detoxification of peanut meal by co-fermentation with Weizmannia coagulans, Bacillus subtilis, and supplemented enzymes.

BACKGROUND: Peanut meal, a high-protein agricultural by-product, faces challenges as animal feed due to anti-nutritional factors, poor protein digestibility, aflatoxin contamination, and imbalanced amino acids. Microbial fermentation is one of the most effective methods to reduce anti-nutritional factors and enhance the nutritional value of peanut meal. Compared to single-strain fermentation, microbial-enzyme co-fermentation exhibits enhanced degradation efficiency, accelerates nutrient release, improves product safety by reducing mycotoxins and anti-nutritional factors, enhances sensory prope

Impact of Heyndrickxia (Bacillus) coagulans GBI-30, 6086 (BC30) probiotic on gastrointestinal function in healthy adults: a randomised controlled trial.

Many healthy people complain of functional gastrointestinal (GI) tract symptoms that do not fit diagnostic criteria for established diseases. Disrupted intestinal microbiomes are associated with these functional conditions, thus the use of beneficial bacteria shown to restore the protective microbiome may be useful. Our aims were to determine if Heyndrickxia (Bacillus) coagulans GBI-30, 6086 (BC30) would improve GI functions in healthy adults living in China and to determine its effect on the GI microbiome. Healthy adults ( n = 111, 18-65 years old) with functional GI complaints were enrolled

Testing the Immunomodulatory Effects of Probiotic Bacillus coagulans SNZ 1969® in Healthy Adults: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: The immune system and the gastrointestinal tract are intricately linked. The intestinal barrier, microbiome, and immune system are in constant communication, shaping immune responses and maintaining homeostasis. Imbalances in the gut microbiome can affect the intestinal barrier and increase susceptibility to infections, along with a decline in immune function (both innate and adaptive immunity). Maintaining optimal immune function is crucial for protecting against infections and supporting overall health, particularly in populations that may be more vulnerable to seasonal respirato
