The culturally engrained practice of 'relaxing' afro-textured hair has been linked with hair and scalp disorders. Herein, we discuss the evolution of human hair types, focusing in particular on afro-textured hair. Our study examines economic, demographic, and climate-related variables to better understand variations among North Carolina counties in terms of the number of tanning beds and booths per capita during a recent 3-year period.

OBJECTIVE: Young women living in industrialised westernised societies have a higher prevalence of anorexia nervosa, partly due to a cultural emphasis on thinness as a beauty ideal. Sociocultural milieux might promote recovery from anorexia nervosa amongst young women. The current article is a commentary about the social influences on recovery from anorexia nervosa - based on social anthropology, narratives of people with lived experience, and clinical studies.

The objectives were to survey tanning salons in a defined geographic area of Buenos Aires city and to assess the information offered to consumers regarding chronic exposure to ultraviolet radiation, types of radiation used, and safety measures employed. A prospective study using a standardized interview with limited multiple choice responses for data collection was conducted.
