[Perianal precancerous conditions (Bowen disease, Paget disease, Carcinoma in situ, Buschke-Lowenstein tumor)].

Perianal premalignant lesions are rare. Any suspicious perianal lesion or any perianal exanthema, that does not heal by non-surgical treatment has to be biopsied for histology. Many premalignant lesions are diagnosed as an incidental finding after anorectal surgery: any anorectal specimen must be examined by the pathologist. Leukoplakia is a facultative premalignant condition. High-grade anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN) is an in situ squamous cell carcinoma, associated with papillomavirus infection. Bowen's disease and Bowenoid papulosis are clinical variations of high-grade AIN. Buschke-L

[Giant inguinal condyloma (Buschke Lowenstein tumor) with a clinical aspect of squamous carcinoma].

This paper presents a patient with multiple condyloma and a Buschke-Lowenstein tumor in the groin with clinical aspect of a squamous carcinoma. Malignity was histologically ruled out in this case. Lesions were treated by surgery and during the postoperative period, the patient was treated with interferon alpha i.m. at a rate of 9 x 10(6) UI/day three times a week for 3 weeks. One year after the treatment, the patient had not shown any relapse.

Considerations in surgical management of a Buschke-Lowenstein tumor in Netherton syndrome: A case report.

Netherton syndrome is an autosomal recessive ichthyosis caused by mutations in SPINK5, with the classic triad of linearis circumflexa, trichorrhexis invaginata, and atopy. There are few reports of surgical management in individuals with Netherton syndrome and clinicians may be reluctant to operate for fear of wound-healing complications. This report describes a pediatric case of a Buschke-Lowenstein tumor of the natal cleft in a patient with Netherton syndrome that had failed to respond to medical management. We reviewed the literature for previous cases of surgery in individuals with Netherto

Should the Surgical Management of Buschke-Lowenstein Tumors Be Aggressive? About 10 Cases.

AIMS: Buschke-Lowenstein tumor (BLT) of the anal margin is a histologically benign tumor whose degeneration can lead to a deadly local evolution because of difficult and late diagnosis. The objective of this study was to report our experience and propose a therapeutic strategy for these rare tumors. METHODS: From 1996 to 2014, 10 men with a median age of 45 years (25-64) were treated for a BLT of the anal margin with a first local excision possibly followed by rectal amputation. RESULTS: Local perianal excision was curative in 6 cases without recurrence. The median follow-up time was 94.5 mo

Clinicopathological Findings and Comprehensive Review of Buschke-Lowenstein Tumors Based on a Case Study.

The Buschke-Löwenstein tumor (BLT), also known as giant condyloma acuminatum, is a rare, exophytic tumor, arising from pre-existing warty lesions associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, particularly strains 6 and 11, which are considered to have low oncogenic potential. BLT presents as a large, cauliflower-like growth typically affecting the penis, vulva, vagina, perineum, scrotum, anus, and perianal area. Despite being a benign lesion, BLT is locally aggressive with a high recurrence rate, and can potentially undergo malignant transformation into squamous cell carcinoma, contrib

Giant Condyloma Acuminata (Buschke-Lowenstein Tumor): Review of an Unusual Disease and Difficult to Manage.

Giant condyloma acuminatum (GCA) or Buschke-Loewenstein tumor is a rare disease, with an estimated prevalence of 0.1%. It was initially described in 1896 by Buschke and later in 1925 by Buschke and Loewenstein. Classic condyloma acuminata (CCA) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) were initially described as different entities. These three entities are currently considered to correspond to the same spectrum of different but not exclusive malignant transformations, associated with multiple risk factors such infection by human papilloma virus (HPV), immunodeficiencies, poor hygiene, multiple sexual

Surgical treatment of perineal giant condylomata acuminata (Buschke Lowenstein tumor): Case series from a developing country.

INTRODUCTION: Giant condylomata acuminatum (GCA) also referred to as Buschke-Lowenstein tumor (BLT) is a rare tumor primarily associated with low-risk HPV 6 and 11, which is believed to be a slow growing intermediate tumor with low potential to transform into invasive cancer. CASE PRESENTATION: We presented our experience with three cases of BLT (one woman and two men). CLINICAL DISCUSSION: The three patients had surgical excision and two of them had reconstruction of the surgical defect with good clinical outcome. CONCLUSION: We highlighted the importance of early identification of symptom

Giant condyloma acuminatum (Buschke-Lowenstein tumor) involving a pilonidal sinus: a case report and review of the literature.

Giant condyloma acuminatum or Buschke-Lowenstein tumor has been reported to involve many areas about the perineum. The majority of previous documentations have implicated the coronal sulcus, prepuce, and fossa navicularis of the penis as the most likely foci to support growth. Authors have contributed multiple cases of perianal and rectal involvement as well as rare reports of inguinal, bladder, and endocervix-low uterine segment tumors. A case of giant condyloma acuminatum involving a chronic pilonidal sinus overlying the sacrum is described. Wide surgical extirpation was found to be a curati

Successful Surgical Management of Giant Condyloma Acuminatum (Buschke Lowenstein Tumor) in the Urethra of a Female Patient: A Case Report.

The Buschke-Lowenstein tumor (BLT) is a slow-growing, locally destructive verrucous plaque that typically appears on the penis but may occur elsewhere in the anogenital region. It most commonly is considered to be a regional variant of verrucous carcinoma. It is rare but accounts for 5-24% of all penile cancers. It can also affect the perineum and other portions of the genitalia. It was first described by Buschke and Löwenstein in 1925, and is also known as giant condyloma acuminatum (GCA). Regardless of the treatment modality, careful follow-up is recommended because of the high risk of recur

Recurrent fungating tumor and a chronic rash in an immunosuppressed transgender patient: a case of Buschke-Lowenstein condyloma and epidermodysplasia verruciformis.

A transgender female in her 40s with history of HIV and testicular cancer status post-genital X-irradiation presented with a perianal mass and pruritic rash across her chest. Physical examination revealed a bulky, verrucous tumor protruding outward from the anus involving the medial buttocks. Examination of the chest and arms showed numerous guttate, pink, flat-topped papules coalescing into plaques. Clinically and histologically the lesions were consistent with Buschke-Löwenstein condyloma (BLC) and acquired epidermodysplasia verruciformis (AEDV). Buschke-Löwenstein condyloma incisional biops
