Adenosquamous carcinoma of vesicovaginal fistula: a rare entity.

A 56-year-old lady presented with a vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) along with past history of abdominal hysterectomy. Biopsy of the fistulous tract showed squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Patient underwent radical cystourethrectomy, total vaginectomy, and bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection along with ileal conduit. The final histopathology report of the resected specimen showed adenosquamous carcinoma in VVF. As this is a rare entity, we are reporting this case.

Adenosquamous carcinoma of the esophagogastric junction. Case report.

BACKGROUND: Pemphigoid gestationis (PG), also known as herpes gestationis, is a rare autoantibody-mediated bullous disease, usually associated with pregnancy and the postpartum period. However, infiltrating cells have recently been suggested to also contribute to the pathogenesis of cutaneous lesions. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the immunophenotype of T cells infiltrating the PG lesional skin and their prevalent cutaneous cytokine expression, as well as the presence and distribution of mast cells, eosinophils and neutrophils. Methods We performed an immunohistochemical study with a large panel of

Adenosquamous cell carcinoma arising from the papilla major.

A 47-year-old man was admitted to hospital with complaint of general fatigue. Shortly before the admission a suspected obstructive jaundice was diagnosed at a local hospital. On admission, the physical examination was significant for jaundice; total bilirubin was 6.43 mg/dl. The tumor marker CA19-9 was 2056 U/ml. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was performed and showed dilatation of common bile duct and main pancreatic duct, accompanied with an endoscopic naso-biliary drainage (ENBD) in order to reduce the jaundice. The duodenoscopy showed enlarged and deformed papilla. H

Adenosquamous Carcinoma of the Gallbladder: A Rare Surgical Entity.

Gallbladder cancer (GBC), while infrequent, is the predominant malignancy of the biliary tract. The absence of clinical symptoms in conjunction with aggressive behavior contributes to delayed diagnosis and unfavorable prognosis. This condition typically remains asymptomatic in its initial stages, making detection challenging. Herein, we report a case of adenosquamous carcinoma of the gallbladder in a 74-year-old Caucasian woman who was admitted due to anemia, gastrointestinal bleeding, and abdominal pain. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen demonstrated a formation adjacent to the neck of

[A Case of Gastric Adenosquamous Carcinoma with Liver Invasion].

An 86-year-old man was referred to our hospital by his primary care physician because of epigastric pain. The patient was diagnosed with gastric cancer and underwent pyloric gastrectomy(D2 dissection and Roux-en-Y reconstruction)and partial hepatectomy. Based on the presence of squamous cell carcinoma and poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma components in postoperative pathological examination, a diagnosis of adenosquamous carcinoma(pT4bN2M0, pStage ⅢB)was made. Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy with S-1+DTX was initiated; however, it was discontinued owing to severe general malaise. One yea

A case report of adenosquamous carcinoma of the esophagogastric junction.

BACKGROUND: Many types of tumors can arise in the esophagogastric junction (EGJ). Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) arising from the esophageal epithelia, adenocarcinoma arising from the gastric mucosa, or Barrett's esophageal mucosa are frequently observed in the EGJ. However, adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) has been rarely observed in this area. We herein report a rare case of ASC of the EGJ. CASE PRESENTATION: An 81-year-old man visited our hospital complaining of dysphagia. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy detected an elevated tumor in the gastric cardia. Biopsy specimens taken from the tumor showed

Primary Adenosquamous Cell Carcinoma of the Ileum in a Dog.

A 9-year-old male, castrated Chihuahua was examined because of a 7-day history of intermittent vomiting. A mass in the small intestine was identified on abdominal radiography and ultrasonography. Laparotomy revealed a mass lesion originating in the ileum, and surgical resection was performed. The mass was histologically diagnosed as adenosquamous cell carcinoma. Chemotherapy with carboplatin was initiated, but the dog was suspected to have experienced recurrence 13 months after surgery and died 3 months later. To our knowledge, this is the first case report to describe the clinical course of a

Pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma with invasion to the spleen in a cat.

A four-and-a-half-year-old female Scottish Fold cat underwent partial pancreatectomy with en-bloc splenectomy. The resected specimen was a biphasic tumor that was diagnosed histologically and immunohistochemically as pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC), a ductal carcinoma variant according to the WHO classification of tumors in humans. There was a gradual transition between the adenocarcinoma component and the squamous cell carcinoma component. The squamous cell carcinoma component comprised approximately 30-40% of the tumor. A pancreatic tumor infiltrated into the gastrosplenic ligament

[A Rare Case of Adenosquamous Carcinoma in the Liver with Hepatolithiasis].

This report describes a case of primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the liver with hepatolithiasis. A 70's man was followed up at a clinic for hepatolithiasis, gallbladder stone, and dilatation of the intrahepatic duct. He visited our hospital for computed tomography(CT)examination. CT showed a 30mm diameter low-density mass in the S2 liver and dilatation of the intrahe- patic duct filled with hepatolithiasis. Blood examination showed elevated levels of tumor markers(CEA 8.0 ng/mL, CA19-9 19,196 U/mL). We diagnosed the tumor as cholangiocellular carcinoma(cT2N1M0, cStage ⅣA)with hepatolithiasis

Primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the liver: a case report.

Adenosquamous carcinoma of the liver is a rare variant of cholangiocarcinoma. It is known to be a highly aggressive tumor with a poor prognosis, but its pathogenesis remains unclear owing to limited data in the literature. We report a case of 56-year-old woman who presented with a 1-week history of epigastric pain. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a 6.5-cm ill-defined mass with low signal intensity in the left lobe of the liver, which was suspicious of cholangiocarcinoma. The patient underwent left hemihepatectomy. Microscopically, the tumor consisted of malignant glandular and squamous com

Adenosquamous carcinoma of the sigmoid colon: report of a case.

A case of adenosquamous carcinoma of the sigmoid colon is presented herein. An 85-year-old woman without any symptoms was admitted to our hospital to undergo detailed examinations of the colon and rectum. Colonoscopy showed a huge type 2 tumor in the sigmoid colon. A typical sigmoid colectomy and lymph node dissection were performed. A histopathological investigation demonstrated adenosquamous carcinoma invading the subserosa. Although an absolute curative resection was performed, she died of metastatic lung carcinoma 14 months after the operation.

Adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas: report of two cases.

Adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas is a rare variant of pancreatic exocrine carcinoma. We herein report two patients with this entity. One patient was a 60-yr-old Japanese man complaining of a palpable mass, 5.5 cm in the greatest diameter, in the epigastrium. Serum CA 19-9 was increased (2010 U/ml). Ultrasonography and computed tomography showed a mass in the pancreatic tail with central necrosis and invading the posterior wall of the stomach. Angiography showed an encasement of the splenic artery and complete obstruction of the splenic vein. Distal pancreatectomy, splenectomy, and parti

Hypercalcaemia in a patient with fatal adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon.

OBJECTIVE: To report a rare manifestation of metastatic adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon in a patient presenting with humoral hypercalcaemia of malignancy mediated by parathyroid hormone related peptide (PTHrP). CLINICAL FEATURES: A 58-year-old man with metastatic adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon presented with hypercalcaemia. A technetium bone scan excluded osteolytic bone secondaries. A negative parathyroid subtraction scan and a low serum immunoreactive parathyroid hormone level (1-34 [amino acid fragment]) made the diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism unlikely. The diagnosis o

[Primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the stomach--a case report].

A 56-year-old man was hospitalized with the complaint of upper abdominal discomfort. A gastrointestinal series revealed a filling defect in the body of the stomach. Under the diagnosis of gastric cancer, total gastrectomy was performed. Borrmann III type cancer measuring 5 X 4 cm, extending to the antrum and the upper portion of the body of the stomach, was identified in the body. Histologically, most of the tumor consisted of squamous cell carcinoma. Adenocarcinoma and a small nest of squamous metaplasia were observed at the peripheral wall of this tumor. The pathological diagnosis was adenos

Genomic characterization and prognosis of pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma.

Pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma (PASC) is a highly rare and aggressive disease with poor prognosis. The median overall survival is less than one year. Aiming to identify the genomic characterization of the PASC, we conducted a retrospective analysis of the clinical characteristics and genomic alterations in 14 patients with PASC who underwent surgery at Beijing Hospital and Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 2010 to 2021. Genomic alterations were identified using targeted panel sequencing. We developed a PASC-specific signature to aid in the prognostic stratification of these patien

Gallbladder adenosquamous cell carcinoma: report of two cases.

Adenocarcinoma is the usual histological presentation of the very rare gallbladder carcinoma. Adenosquamous cell carcinoma accounts for less than 3.5% of gallbladder carcinomas, and is characterised by invasive growth, a reduced tendency for lymph node metastasis, an increased tendency for hepatic infiltration or liver metastasis, and a poorer prognosis than adenocarcinoma. We present two cases. The first patient presented to our institution with increased bilirubin levels and dilated intra- and extrahepatic bile ducts. Adenosquamous carcinoma of the gallbladder was diagnosed on the post-opera

Adenosquamous carcinoma in situ of the anus: a case series.

While human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated adenocarcinoma of the anus resembling endocervical adenocarcinoma has recently been described, anal adenocarcinoma in situ/AIS has not. Moreover, to the best of our knowledge, truly biphasic anal adenosquamous carcinoma in situ (ADSQ-IS) is essentially non-existent in the literature. Here, we report four cases of anal ADSQ-IS including one with associated invasive adenosquamous carcinoma. Histologically, all cases of ADSQ-IS showed a basal/peripheral population of stratified, p40-positive dysplastic squamous cells adjacent to luminal, columnar, p40-n
