Electroconvulsive Therapy Credentialing for Psychiatrists-Review of Required Standards Across States and Territories in Australia.

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a complex medical procedure, the delivery of which requires specialist knowledge and skills. We reviewed the standards required for ECT credentialing in different jurisdictions in Australia. We reviewed the Chief Psychiatrist guidelines and statewide policy standards on ECT and focused on standards required for initial credentialing and ongoing privileging in ECT. We compared the credentialing requirements within these documents with the standards specified in the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists professional practice guideline for EC

Beyond the Leak: Analyzing the Real-World Exploitation of Stolen Credentials Using Honeypots.

This study presents one of the most extensive analyses of the lifecycle of leaked authentication credentials to date, bridging the gap between database breaches and real-world cyberattacks. We analyze over 27 billion leaked credentials-nearly 4 billion unique-using a sophisticated data filtering and normalization pipeline to handle breach inconsistencies. Following this analysis, we deploy a distributed sensor network of 39 honeypots running 14 unique services across 9 networks over a one-year-long experiment, capturing one of the most comprehensive authentication datasets in the literature. Implementation and expansion of inpatient and ambulatory pharmacist credentialing and privileging at an academic medical center.

PURPOSE: This article highlights one academic medical center's effort to implement a complete credentialing and privileging (C&P) process for both inpatient and ambulatory clinical pharmacists. SUMMARY: The C&P process offers a recognized method to advance pharmacy practice. Credentialing is defined as a process whereby an individual is deemed qualified in a specific subject matter area. Privileging is the process whereby an institution grants authority to an individual to perform services based on credentials. Federal guidelines permit pharmacists to obtain the same level of privileges as pr

Stricter national standards are required for credentialing of endoscopic-retrograde-cholangiopancreatography in the United States.

Endoscopic-retrograde-cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is now a vital modality with primarily therapeutic and occasionally solely diagnostic utility for numerous biliary/pancreatic disorders. It has a significantly steeper learning curve than that for other standard gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopies, such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy or colonoscopy, due to greater technical difficulty and higher risk of complications. Yet, GI fellows have limited exposure to ERCP during standard-three-year-GI-fellowships because ERCP is much less frequently performed than esophagogastroduodenoscopy/colonoscopy

Credentialing of small-field dosimetry for the lung SBRT in Japan Clinical Oncology Group clinical trial.

BACKGROUND: Small-field dosimetry plays a pivotal role in stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), where high-precision dose delivery is essential. In multi-institutional clinical trials, quality assurance (QA) becomes increasingly critical due to the variability in linear accelerator (linac) output calibration and treatment planning system (RTPS) configurations. Conventional relative dose factor, which assess relative dose outputs, lack absolute dose information and thus cannot verify the consistency of linac calibration or monitor unit (MU)-to-dose conversion across institutions. These li

Addressing the Urgent Need for Clinical Nutrition Education in PostGraduate Medical Training: New Programs and Credentialing.

The importance of nutrition in the development of disease, and in the recovery from illness, is among the most fundamental tenets in human biology and optimal health. Nutrition was fundamental in many traditional forms of medicine until its role in medical care experienced a rapid decline over the last century. We believe a key cause of the decline in nutrition's essential role in healthcare and preventative medicine is the escalating crisis of inadequate nutrition education in medical training. Recent data show 75% of United States medical schools have no required clinical nutrition classes a

Characterizing the credentialed bachelor's-level behavioral health support workforce: a national descriptive study.

INTRODUCTION: Persistent shortages of the behavioral health workforce have prompted interest in expanding roles for bachelor's-level behavioral health support workers as a strategy for increasing care. States vary in how they regulate this workforce. This study characterized how US states define the bachelor's-level behavioral health workforce through credentialing structures, educational requirements, and scope of practice. METHODS: Data were systematically abstracted from credentialing authorities, state administrative codes, state Medicaid programs, and government webpages using a standard

GPU-Accelerated WPA/WPA2 Credential Recovery as an Enabler for Non-Destructive Drone Neutralization.

Drones have become a significant threat in both modern warfare and civilian environments, presenting unprecedented security challenges. While hard kill (physical destruction) defense methods exist to counter threat drones, they remain prohibitively expensive and often result in collateral damage. This study focuses on software-based peaceful neutralization as an anti-drone countermeasure, with particular emphasis on optimizing Wi-Fi credential recovery by leveraging exploitable vulnerabilities in threat drone wireless communications. The methodology included extensive performance evaluation ex

Professionalisation or Credentialism? Fifteen-Year Enrolment Trends in the UK Postgraduate Certificates in Medical Education.

BACKGROUND: Postgraduate qualifications for clinical educators have proliferated internationally, raising questions about whether this reflects professionalisation or a credentialist response to competitive specialty selection. Postgraduate Certificates in Medical Education (PGCMEs) are established in the United Kingdom (UK), yet no published data describe enrolment over time. This research determined PGCME enrolment trends in the UK universities from 2010 to 2024 and interpreted them against this framing. METHODS: Freedom of Information requests were sent to all the UK public universities of

Creating a credential for bariatric behavioral health professionals: potential benefits, pitfalls, and provider opinion.

BACKGROUND: Since the 1991 recommendation by the National Institutes of Health-sponsored consensus development conference, preoperative psychosocial evaluation of weight loss surgery patients has been adopted by >80% of weight loss surgery programs. Although some published suggestions for conducting evaluations exist, no formal guidelines have been published specifying the qualifications, content knowledge, or clinical experience for the behavioral health professionals who conduct them. As a result, the backgrounds of behavioral health professionals working with bariatric surgery patients are

Proficiency-based training and credentialing can improve patient outcomes and decrease cost to a hospital system.

BACKGROUND: While proficiency-based robotic training has been shown to enhance skill acquisition, no studies have shown that training leads to improved outcomes or quality measures. METHODS: Board-certified general surgeons participated in an optional proficiency-based robotic training curriculum and outcomes from robotic hernia cases were analyzed. Multivariable analysis was performed for operative times to adjust for patient and surgical variables. RESULTS: Six out of 16 (38%) surgeons completed training and 210 robotic hernia cases were analyzed. Longer operative times were associated wit

The next generation of vascular surgeons: how should they be trained and credentialed? Who should pay for it?

Vascular surgery has matured as a subspecialty of general surgery during the past 25 years. The discipline currently faces a number of challenges including duration and scope of training, financing of graduate medical education, specialty and subspecialty certification, hospital privileging or credentialing, and practice opportunities. This article reviews these issues in terms of present realities and future opportunities. Emphasis is placed on curricular redesign to tailor length and breadth of training to future career goals, be they private practice as a general surgeon with vascular surge

The credential and the clinician: Generative AI, cognitive substitution, and what universities owe society in nursing education.

AIM/OBJECTIVE: To argue that generative AI (GenAI) poses a distinct threat to nursing credentialling, one that operates as cognitive substitution rather than cognitive supplement, and to examine why a prominent institutional response to GenAI in assessment, while well designed for general higher education, fails when applied to nursing. BACKGROUND: Nursing registration across jurisdictions rests on the assumption that university assessment has verified a graduate's competence. GenAI is now widely used in assessed work. When it produces the work through which competence is certified, the crede

Incorporating the Certified Professional in Patient Safety credential into undergraduate medical curriculum: assessment and lessons learned.

CONTEXT: Medical error is cited as a leading cause of preventable harm and death. Medical education in the United States must be restructured to enhance the development of skills, behaviors, and attitudes that medical students will need upon graduation, including the crucial ability to manage clinical and scientific information, understanding the basic concepts of human dynamics, patient safety, systems theory, and the development of basic management, communication, and teamwork skills. To accomplish this goal, it will be necessary for medical schools to balance their current, intensive focus

Credentialing & privileging an important factor for diagnostic accuracy of diabetic retinopathy screening in the health clinics of Penang.

INTRODUCTION: Early detection and management of diabetic retinopathy (DR) is crucial in preventing blindness. Screening is recommended at diagnosis and yearly for Type 2 diabetes patients. DR screening using non-mydriatic fundus cameras (NMFC) has been extended to Health Clinics since 1997, but competency and experience of the medical officers (MOs) remain an issue in Primary Care. This study aims to assess the accuracy of the eye examination using NMFC for DR screening done by MOs and identify the factors associated with the accuracy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study us

Industry Interactions at Medical Conferences: Representatives' Credentials and the Disclosure of Data Limitations Influence Clinician Perceptions.

PURPOSE: Exhibit hall booths at medical conferences are a key avenue for promoting prescription drugs to health care providers (HCPs). Because HCPs spend considerable time interacting with industry representatives at conferences, we explored how representatives' credentials might influence HCP perceptions and prescribing intentions of promoted drugs. We also examined how disclosures of clinical trial data limitations about these drugs during conference interactions might influence HCP perceptions and intentions. METHODS: We conducted a 2 × 2 factorial experimental study with HCPs (n = 430) du

Web-based credential monitoring instantly flags health professionals with fraudulent licenses or criminal backgrounds.

An alarming number of practicing medical professionals and healthcare staffers across the nation may have criminal backgrounds, jeopardizing the health of hundreds of millions of patients and compromising the integrity of healthcare in this country. An investigation conducted by The Los Angeles Times found that an extraordinary number of nurses in California with criminal backgrounds had been allowed to continue working in healthcare facilities for years--their crimes virtually swept under the rug. This article suggests that continuous monitoring of healthcare credentials can mitigate the pote
