Pyoderma gangrenosum is an uncommon ulcerative cutaneous dermatosis associated with a variety of systemic diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, hematological malignancies, hepatitis and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The pathogenesis of pyoderma gangrenosum remains unknown. Its diagnosis is usually based on clinical evidence and confirmed through a process of elimination of the other possible causes of cutaneous ulcers. This report describes a case of pyoderma gangrenosum with extensive ulceration that responded well to treatment.

Leishmania tropica, a cause of cutaneous leishmaniasis, multiplied more rapidly within human macrophages in vitro at 35 degrees C than at 37 degree C, and was almost completely eliminated at 39 degrees C. In contrast, Leishmania donovani, the cause of the visceral leishmaniasis, multiplied equally well at 35 degrees C and at 37 degrees C,, and was only 40% eliminated at 39 degrees C. Diffuse, cutaneous mastocytosis is a rare variant of cutaneous mast cell infiltration that can arise in neonates or infants as a generalized bullous eruption. The mode of transmission is suggested as autosomal dominant. We report four infants from two unrelated families with diffuse cutaneous mastocytosis whose cutaneous disease was not controlled by initial therapies. Treatment of the four infants with photochemotherapy dramatically reduced or eliminated symptoms. One course of therapy resulted in improvement, and retreatment has not been required two to six years later.

Because of the need for orally active antileishmanial agents, orally administrable drugs have sometimes been used to treat human leishmaniases without prior demonstration of efficacy in experimental models. Cutaneous involvement by Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is frequently diffuse, requiring large field irradiation. Selective tissue compensation techniques, accomplished with either a 1.5 cm bolus cast or water bath phantom, are compared. It is common for practitioners to misdiagnose the cause of facial cutaneous sinus tracts, failing to recognise that many have an odontogenic cause. Acitretin (etretin [Ro-10-1670]) is the major metabolite of etretinate with a much shorter elimination half-life. The drug was used in the treatment of 20 patients who had cutaneous lupus erythematosus. All patients responded to treatment, but in five, the result was unsatisfactory. INTRODUCTION: Canine cutaneous adverse food reaction (CAFR) is a common disorder caused by abnormal and unwanted skin reactions to ingested dietary allergens. Whereas other forms of allergic dermatitis may require drug therapy, CAFR is best treated with dietary change. Therefore, early and accurate diagnosis and treatment of CAFR are critical. BACKGROUND: Chemoneurolysis is used to treat focal spasticity in patients with upper motor neuron syndrome.
CASE REPORT: Neurolytic substances (phenol/alcohol) injected nearby/in the main trunk of peripheral nerves can cause not only motor but also cutaneous nerves destruction. The latter is thought to be responsible for considerable side effects such as dysesthesia and paresthesia. During injections, targeting the primary motor branches originating from the main trunk while sparing cutaneous nerves will result in decrease/elimination of these side effects and better clinical improvement.

First described in 1930, the pathogenesis of pyoderma gangrenosum remains unknown, but it is probably related to a hyperergic reaction.
