Predicting drugs and proteins in parasite infections with topological indices of complex networks: theoretical backgrounds, applications, and legal issues.

Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) models have been used in Pharmaceutical design and Medicinal Chemistry for the discovery of anti-parasite drugs. QSAR models predict biological activity using as input different types of structural parameters of molecules. Topological Indices (TIs) are a very interesting class of these parameters. We can derive TIs from graph representations based on only nodes (atoms) and edges (chemical bonds). TIs are not time-consuming in terms of computational resources because they depend only on atom-atom connectivity information. This information expr

Physiotherapy for Cervical Dystonia: A Systematic Review of Randomised Controlled Trials.

Physiotherapy is mentioned as an adjunctive treatment to improve the symptoms of cervical dystonia in terms of pain, function and quality of life. However, botulinum neurotoxin injection remains the treatment of choice. This systematic review emphasizes physical therapy and evaluates it by including six studies. The methodology is based on a previous systematic review on this topic to provide better comparability and actuality. For this purpose, two databases were searched using the previously published keywords. This time, only randomised controlled trials were evaluated to increase the power

Anaphylaxis and toxic epidermal necrolysis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome after nonmucosal topical drug application: fact or fiction?

BACKGROUND: Drug-induced anaphylaxis and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) or Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) represent severe immediate and delayed-type adverse drug reactions (ADRs), respectively. Occurrence of such reactions after topical drug application has only rarely been reported. Hence, we compiled a large number of such cases which we systematically analyzed. METHODS: All such cases contained in the ADR database of the competent pharmacovigilance authority in Germany and cases reported in literature were identified, evaluated and analyzed with regard to potential risk factors. Endocrine effect of ghrelin on histological, hormonal and morphometric parameters of the pituitary gland and the possibility of its clinical application.

BACKGROUND: Ghrelin, a brain-intestinal hormone, is a growth hormone (GH) secretagogue. Because it regulates appetite and is secreted most prominently before meals, it is often described as a "hunger hormone". It consists of 28 amino acids. Given the connection between nutritional status and energy metabolism, it suggests that disorders in these areas can lead to anorexia, especially during aging. This review article aims to demonstrate ghrelin's influence on the histological, hormonal, and stereological characteristics of pituitary cells, as well as its potential clinical applications. METHO

Bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis of research on robot-assisted vascular interventional surgery (2015-2025).

Vascular interventional procedures are minimally invasive but remain highly dependent on operator expertise and are associated with occupational radiation exposure and technically demanding catheter and guidewire manipulation. By integrating precision motion control, force sensing, haptic feedback, image-guided navigation, and teleoperation, robot-assisted vascular interventional surgery (RVIS) has emerged as an interdisciplinary field spanning robotics, biomedical engineering, and interventional medicine. However, its global research landscape, intellectual base, research hotspots, and themat

Implementation of telemedicine in the care of patients with aortic dissection.

Telemedicine uses telephone-based or any form of digital communication for remote clinical services. It has been a field of interest for the last century, with broader implementation of telemedicine technologies during the last 25 years. The COVID-19 pandemic was an impetus for the adoption of these technologies globally across all health care services, including patient care, surgical practice, and workflow. As part of the patient engagement work in the Aortic Dissection Collaborative, this topic was identified as an important patient-centered research topic. Telemedicine has been adopted inc

Life-threatening Carotid Complications Caused by Extraluminal Migration of Ingested Foreign Bodies; a Case Report and Narrative Review of Literature.

Carotid complications resulting from extra-luminal migration of ingested foreign bodies (FB) are rare but potentially life-threatening. Previous data on the topic predominantly comprises isolated case reports, leaving a gap in comprehensive evidence necessary to guide clinical decision-making. In this article, we offer a narrative review alongside a novel case report, aimed at providing a broad, evidence-based perspective on the topic to guide clinical practice. The search strategy employed keywords related to carotid artery complications from ingested FB across the following electronic databa

New clues to understand gastroschisis. Embryology, pathogenesis and epidemiology.

gastroschisis is a congenital structural defect of the abdominal wall, most often to the right of the umbilicus, through which the abdominal viscera protrude. Its developmental, etiological and epidemiological aspects have been a hot topic of controversy for a long time. However, recent findings suggest the involving of genetic and chromosomal alterations and the existence of a stress-inducing pathogenetic pathway, in which risk factors such as demographic and environmental ones can converge. To expand the frontier of knowledge about a malformation that has showed a growing global prevalence,
