Current trends for venous thromboembolic prophylaxis for hip arthroscopy: a modified Delphi and nominal group technique consensus study.

The overall risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after hip arthroscopy (HA) is reported to range from 0.2% to 9.5%, but a clear set of recommendations for VTE prophylaxis in HA patients remains scarce. The aim is to survey high-volume hip arthroscopists about their current trends regarding VTE prophylaxis use. A combination of two consensus group methods was used in this study: nominal group technique (NGT) and modified Delphi. A preliminary questionnaire was prepared, and rounds of discussion were completed between NGT members. The final version of the survey was administered to 35 high-volum

Updated definition and classification of dry eye disease: Renewed proposals using the nominal group and Delphi techniques.

The aim of our research was to obtain expert consensus for updated definition and classification of dry eye disease using formal methodology. The nominal group technique (NGT) involved a steering committee of four ophthalmologists began with collection of ideas followed by group discussion. The ideas were collated, refined, and voted upon. The main characteristics considered, each with different degrees of severity in types I, II, and III, were the ability or not of the ocular surface to re-equilibrate itself, frequency of symptoms, presence of inflammation, epithelial alterations, and possibl

Cardiovascular disease in adults with osteogenesis imperfecta: clinical characteristics, care recommendations, and research priorities identified using a modified Delphi technique.

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a multisystem disorder most often caused by pathogenic variants in genes that encode type I collagen. Type I collagen is abundant not only in bone but also in multiple tissues including skin, tendons, cornea, blood vessels, and heart. Thus, OI can be expected to affect cardiovascular system, and there are numerous reports of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in people with OI. However, there is no consensus on how CVD in OI should be assessed or managed. To fill this gap, a multidisciplinary group was convened to develop clinical guidance. The work included a systema

Treatment of intramedullary spinal cord tumors: a modified Delphi technique of the North American Spine Society Section of Spine Oncology.

OBJECTIVE: Intramedullary spinal cord tumors (IMSCTs) are rare tumors with heterogeneous presentations and natural histories that complicate their management. Standardized guidelines are lacking on when to surgically intervene and the appropriate aggressiveness of resection, especially given the risk of new neurological deficits following resection of infiltrative tumors. Here, the authors present the results of a modified Delphi method using input from surgeons experienced with IMSCT removal to construct a framework for the operative management of IMSCTs based on the clinical, radiographic, a

Clinical Use of Super-Bioavailable Itraconazole for the Management of Dermatophytosis: Consensus Statement by Dermatologists from India via the Modified Delphi Technique.

Super-bioavailable itraconazole (SB ITZ) overcomes the limitations of conventional itraconazole (CITZ) such as interindividual variability and reduced bioavailability. It has been approved for systemic mycoses in Australia and Europe as 50 mg and the USA as 65 mg and in India as 50 mg, 65 mg, 100 mg, and 130 mg. However, data on the ideal dose and duration of SB ITZ treatment in managing dermatophytosis are insufficient. This consensus discusses the suitability, dosage, duration of treatment, and relevance of using SB ITZ in managing dermatophytosis in different clinical scenarios. Sixteen der

A Practical Guide to Applying the Delphi Technique in Mental Health Treatment Adaptation: The Example of Enhanced Problem-Solving Training (E-PST).

Expert consensus methods, such as the Delphi procedure, are commonly employed in consumer, education, and health services research. However, the utility of this methodology has not widely been described in relation to mental health treatment adaptation efforts. This gap is noteworthy given that evidence-based treatments are often modified in terms of core intervention content, method of delivery, and target populations. Expert consensus methods such as the Delphi procedure offer multiple practical benefits (e.g., flexibility, resource-efficiency) for psychologists who need to adapt existing tr
