Transradial Access for Newly Food and Drug Administration-Approved Devices for Endovascular Treatment of Cerebral Aneurysms: A Technical Note.

BACKGROUND: Despite the recent increase of transradial access among neurointerventionalists, there is still a paucity of evidence in the neurosurgical literature. There are 3 newly Food and Drug Administration-approved devices-Woven EndoBridge (WEB), Surpass, and PulseRider-that significantly expand the options available for endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms. Our work reports the safety and feasibility of radial artery catheterization for the deployment of these new devices. METHODS: We performed a review of the first 10 patients with an unruptured cerebral aneurysm treated via a t

First Approval of Improved Medical Device Conditional on Use-Result Survey in Japan - Regulatory Review of Polymer-Free Drug-Coated BioFreedom Coronary Stent.

A prospective randomized clinical trial showed that the BioFreedom stent (Biosensors International), which is a polymer-free and carrier-free drug-coated stent, was significantly superior to a bare-metal stent (BMS) in patients at high bleeding risk who were receiving a 1-month course of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT). However, the stent thrombosis rate (2.01% for BioFreedom vs. 2.20% for BMS) was 4-6-fold higher than that of approved drug-eluting stents based on real-world data in Japan. Furthermore, the frequency of stent thrombosis at more than 1 month with the BioFreedom stent was slight

Total aortic arch replacement using the Thoraflex Hybrid device: evolution from investigational to federally approved use in the United States.

BACKGROUND: After the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the Thoraflex Hybrid device in April 2022, hybrid devices to facilitate total arch replacement (TAR) became commercially available in the United States. However, little is known about how the Thoraflex device has been used since then. We present our experience (2016-2025) with this device. METHODS: At our practice, 62 patients [median age, 65 (54-73) years] underwent frozen elephant trunk (FET) TAR with the Thoraflex device: 14 under an investigational device exemption (IDE) (2016-2018) and 48 after FDA approval (2022-2025).

Comparison of the dynamics of exoskeletal-assisted and unassisted locomotion in an FDA-approved lower extremity device: Controlled experiments and development of a subject-specific virtual simulator.

Robotic exoskeletons have considerable, but largely untapped, potential to restore mobility in individuals with neurological disorders, and other conditions that result in partial or complete immobilization. The growing demand for these devices necessitates the development of technology to characterize the human-robot system during exoskeletal-assisted locomotion (EAL) and accelerate robot design refinements. The goal of this study was to combine controlled experiments with computational modeling to build a virtual simulator of EAL. The first objective was to acquire a minimum empirical datase
