Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms Induced by Diosmin and Hesperidin: A Case Report.

Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a severe cutaneous adverse reaction which exhibits a diverse range of presentations. We described a 48-year-old man diagnosed with acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP)-like DRESS following the administration of diosmin and hesperidin. To our knowledge, diosmin and hesperidin-induced DRESS are exceptionally rare. This aims to raise awareness of potential severe cutaneous side effects in patients taking these agents.

Identification of Diosmin and Flavin Adenine Dinucleotide as Repurposing Treatments for Monkeypox Virus: A Computational Study.

The World Health Organization declared monkeypox a global public health emergency on 23 July 2022. This disease was caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV), which was first identified in 1958 in Denmark. The MPXV is a member of the Poxviridae family, the Chordopoxvirinae subfamily, and the genus Orthopoxvirus, which share high similarities with the vaccinia virus (the virus used to produce the smallpox vaccine). For the initial stage of infection, the MPXV needs to attach to the human cell surface glycosaminoglycan (GAG) adhesion molecules using its E8 protein. However, up until now, neither a st

Simultaneous determination of diosmin and hesperidin in combined pharmaceutical preparation by synchronous fluorescence spectrofluorimetric method.

A sensitive, rapid and green synchronous spectrofluorimetric method was developed to simultaneously analyze a binary mixture of diosmin (DSM) and hesperidin (HSP). The RSFI of both medications was measured in methanol at Δλ of 100 nm. The results indicated that specific experimental factors had an impact on these intensities. The optimization and thorough examination of these parameters were conducted. The plots of synchronous fluorescence intensity-concentration for DSM and HSP were found to be linear within the concentration ranges of 0.5-5.0 µg ml-1 and 0.2-3.0 µg ml-1, respectively. The de

Diosmin Treats Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Inflammatory Pain and Peritonitis by Blocking NF-κB Activation in Mice.

Gram-negative bacterial infections induce inflammation and pain. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a pathogen-associated molecular pattern and the major constituent of Gram-negative bacterial cell walls. Diosmin is a citrus flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Here we investigated the efficacy of diosmin in a nonsterile model of inflammatory pain and peritonitis induced by LPS. Diosmin reduced in a dose-dependent manner LPS-induced inflammatory mechanical hyperalgesia, thermal hyperalgesia, and neutrophil recruitment to the paw (myeloperoxidase activity). Diosmin also normali

The improvement of diosmin dissolution by PLGA complexes for oral delivery: physicochemical characterization and anti-inflammatory evaluation.

Diosmin (DSN) is a potent flavonoid used for chronic venous insufficiency, but its therapeutic potential is constrained by poor aqueous solubility and low oral bioavailability (BCS Class IV). To overcome these challenges, a hybrid polymeric nanocarrier system comprising poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and (2-hydroxypropyl)-β-cyclodextrin (HPCD), surface-stabilized by chitosan, was successfully engineered via single-emulsion solvent evaporation. Systematic optimization identified a 95 : 5 (w/w) PLGA : HPCD formulation (95P5H-DSN), achieving an encapsulation efficiency of 71.47 ± 1.38% and

[The effects of diosmin and hesperidin on capillary blood flow of upper limbs in patients with secondary Raynaud's syndrome].

The article discusses the effects of diosmin and hesperidin on capillary blood flow in patients with secondary Raynaud's syndrome (RS). Raynaud's syndrome a difficult problem of modern angiology, since in its development there is a large range of disorders of the capillary blood flow of the limbs. Currently, the main way of therapy in patients with secondary Raynaud's syndrome is the use of either calcium channel blockers (if angiospastic stage of the disease), or prostaglandins of group E1 (with tropho-paralytic stage of secondary RS). However, pharmacological effects of calcium channel block

Diosmin alleviates colitis by inhibiting PANoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells and regulating gut microbiota and metabolites.

BACKGROUND: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly ulcerative colitis (UC), is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by an unclear etiology, often linked to gut microbiota dysbiosis and immune dysregulation. Existing UC therapies are constrained by suboptimal efficacy and adverse effects, underscoring the necessity for novel therapeutic strategies. Diosmin (DIO), a naturally occurring flavonoid, has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential, yet its precise mechanisms and therapeutic role in colitis remain poorly understood. PURPOSE: This study aimed to investig

Diosmin or Hesperidin? Comparison of Antioxidative Action of Two Venoactive Flavonoids in Type 1 Diabetic Rats.

Diabetes mellitus and chronic venous disease (CVD) are multifactorial, long-lasting diseases. Although usually considered separately, they often coexist, and individuals with diabetes are more prone to CVD development. Despite different etiology, CVD and diabetic vascular complications share several pathomechanisms, and oxidative stress is one of them. In this study the antioxidative potential of two venoactive flavonoids-diosmin and hesperidin-in the course of type 1 diabetes was compared for the first time. Type 1 diabetic rats were treated with diosmin or hesperidin, each at two doses, 50 a

Lipopolysaccharide Exacerbates Ketamine-Induced Psychotic-Like Behavior, Oxidative Stress, and Neuroinflammation in Mice: Ameliorative Effect of Diosmin.

Schizophrenia, a neuropsychiatric disorder has been associated with aberrant neurotransmission affecting behaviors, social preference, and cognition. Limitations in understanding its pathogenesis via the dopamine hypothesis have engendered other hypotheses such as the glutamate hypothesis. That antagonism of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) elicits schizophrenia-like behaviors indistinguishable from the disorder in animal and human models. There are growing concerns that redox imbalance and neuro-immuno dysfunction may play role in aggravating the symptomologies of this disorder. This
