The article reconstructs attempts to create scientifically coherent, internationally agreed-upon diagnostics for mild forms of schizophrenia throughout the 20th century. A particular focus here lies on what became known as bland-or sluggish-schizophrenia, a particular term coined in the USSR, which became known for its frequent use in internationally contested diagnoses of human rights activists. INTRODUCTION: This study explores UK paediatric intensive care (PIC) trainees' thoughts and feelings about high-profile end-of-life cases recently featured in the press and social media and the impact on their career intentions.

NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) and NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis) are time-honored acronyms, with widely popular acceptance. Experts now recommend discarding them in favor of MASLD for "metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease" and MASH for "metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis." The reasons for this change are explored and an argument about why the change is confusing, is advanced. Should these acronyms become clinically popular, risk assessment manuals will require updates.
