When AI meets DEI: Employee AI-beliefs and their implications for workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion.

As artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes the workplace, its impact on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has been examined primarily through the lens of what AI actually does (i.e., system design, outputs). This review shifts the focus to humans' subjective beliefs about AI, identifying mechanisms through which three dimensions of AI-beliefs (competence, warmth, and morality) may affect DEI goals: improving representation of underrepresented groups, closing career gaps across groups, and fostering inclusion. Our synthesis shows that, independently of what AI does, AI-beliefs can disadvanta

Mapping Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statements in Graduate Medical Education: Protocol for a Scoping Review Across Specialties.

BACKGROUND: Persistent disparities in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) remain across US residency programs despite recent accreditation requirements. In this context, DEI disparities refer to inequities in the representation, recruitment, advancement, and educational experiences of individuals from underrepresented and marginalized groups. Numerous specialty-specific studies have evaluated DEI content on residency program websites, but these studies differ in their methodologies, assessed content, and reporting practices. There is currently no comprehensive synthesis of how DEI content i

Integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Approaches Into Treatment of Commercial Tobacco Use for Optimal Cancer Care Delivery.

Tobacco-related cancer incidence and mortality and commercial tobacco use have decreased steadily in recent decades, but improvements have not been equitably experienced across population subgroups. A complex interaction across socioecological domains of individual, interpersonal, community/organization, and societal/policy factors influence disparities in tobacco use, treatment, and related health outcomes. NCI's Cancer Center Cessation Initiative (C3I) provides an ideal platform to examine and intervene on multilevel influences across the cancer control continuum to reduce any disproportiona

Seeing ourselves in anatomy: Embedding equity, diversity, and inclusivity to transform learning in a UK BSc curriculum.

Embedding intersectional equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in anatomy education is essential to reflect the growing diversity of student populations, support all learners, and prepare graduates for a more inclusive, socially responsive global workforce. Anatomical textbooks and models have typically focused on white, cis-gender, able-bodied individuals who perpetuates biases and underrepresentation, impacting learners' professional development. We embedded five workshops in the junior honors BSc anatomy curriculum, which all adopted an intersectional EDI approach. These were strongly anch

The roadmap to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion in hematology clinical trials: an American Society of Hematology initiative.

Clinical trial design for classical hematologic diseases is difficult because samples sizes are often small and not representative of the disease population. The American Society of Hematology initiated a roadmap project to identify barriers and make progress to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into trial design and conduct. Focus groups of international experts from across the clinical trial ecosystem were conducted. Eight issues identified include (1) harmonization of demographic terminology; (2) engagement of lived experience experts across the entire study timeline; (3) awareness

Co-creating an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Strategy in a Pan-Canadian Health Data Research Network.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) are increasingly recognised as essential to advancing population health research and addressing structural inequities. Yet, few publications describe how to develop IDEA strategies, leaving organisations with limited guidance on replicable processes. Here, Health Data Research Network Canada (HDRN Canada) details the steps it took to establish its own IDEA Strategy. The strategy was developed through an iterative five-phase process. Key steps included creating a project charter, defining shared governance and consensus-based decision makin

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Content on Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship Program Websites: A Cross-Sectional, Observational Website-Content Analysis.

Introduction The shift to virtual interviewing during the COVID-19 pandemic made program websites a central resource for residency and fellowship applicants, and applicants from groups underrepresented in medicine place particular value on programs that visibly demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Orthopaedic surgery remains among the least diverse surgical specialties, and although professional societies such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) have prioritized DEI, the extent to which these efforts are reflected on orthopaedic fellowship webs

Parkinson's research with inclusion, diversity and equity (PRIDE): examining Parkinson's disease symptoms among LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ adults.

INTRODUCTION: Nearly four million LGBTQ+ adults aged 50 and older live in the U.S., with up to 40,000 currently living with Parkinson's disease (PD). However, little is known about PD-related symptoms in this population. METHODS: From 2022 to 2025, we conducted a national cross-sectional study using a convenience sample of LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ individuals living with PD (n = 254). We administered validated PD and health-related measures to examine physical, mental and social health symptoms. Bivariate and regression models examined differences in symptom burden between LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+

Parkinson's research with inclusion, diversity, and equity: exploring the experiences of LGBTQ+ caregivers of people living with Parkinson's disease.

OBJECTIVES: Parkinson's disease (PD) caregivers often face significant challenges, including worsening anxiety and depression, declining physical health, reduced quality of life, and a high level of caregiver burden. Research shows lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and additional identity (LGBTQ+) caregivers also experience poorer health, greater financial strain, higher stress and depression, more disability, and barriers to care, yet little is known about the experiences of LGBTQ+ PD caregivers. This study explored the knowledge, perceptions, and care experiences of LGBTQ+ PD careg

Advancing Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in a Patient-Oriented Kidney Research Network: A Can-SOLVE CKD Program Report.

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM: Despite increasing recognition that equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) principles are essential to research and improving health outcomes, there is little data to guide the incorporation of these principles in a research network. Here, we outline a collaborative approach taken by our kidney Strategic for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) network, Canadians Seeking Solutions and Innovations to Overcome Chronic Kidney Disease (Can-SOLVE CKD), to better understand the application of EDIA in a kidney research network. Educational strategies for integrating gender perspectives in health professions training: a systematic review to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.

BACKGROUND: Preparing health professionals to deliver equitable, culturally competent care requires integrating gender perspectives throughout medical training. While essential for addressing health disparities affecting women, men, and gender-diverse populations, implementation approaches vary widely across institutions and regions. Evidence on effective strategies remains fragmented. This systematic review synthesizes educational interventions for gender-sensitive training, evaluates outcomes on student competencies, and examines global research patterns to identify equity gaps in the schola

Investment, integration, and innovation: Fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion across the HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study consortium.

The HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study, a multi-site prospective longitudinal cohort study, will examine human brain, cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional development beginning prenatally and planned through early childhood. From the outset, the HBCD Study integrated diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into its core mission, with key elements like an Associate Director for DEI, a DEI values statement, and establishing a DEI committee to help ensure sustainable progress for the future. The DEI Coordinating Committee supports DEI efforts impacting members of the HBCD con

Setting priorities for how future research in multiple sclerosis in Canada considers equity, diversity and inclusion: A modified e-Delphi study.

BACKGROUND: Research studies in multiple sclerosis (MS) lack diversity. OBJECTIVE: To gain consensus on priorities about how future research in MS in Canada addresses equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) using a modified e-Delphi technique. METHODS: We recruited people with lived experience (people with MS (PwMS) or family members); EDI researchers; and clinicians with experience caring for PwMS. The first survey was developed based on a scoping review, EDI literature, and advisory group meetings and included items for five domains: measuring and reporting diversity characteristics, recrui

A personal reflection: What I learned about diversity, inclusivity and equity because of a young homeless man and his dog.

Who are homeless youths? This is the question I asked after observing a young man and his dog in the lobby of a bank on a cold January evening in Montreal. In attempting to answer this question I found that a universally accepted definition for "homeless youth" does not exist. Nonetheless, research exist that define who they are, the issues associated with homelessness and the health risks they face on the street. This led me wo ask what I could have done to help the young man. My experience help me realize that the street in unfortunately not only diverse, but also potentially inclusive of ev

Breaking Barriers and Bridging Gaps: Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Kidney Transplant Care for Black and Hispanic Patients in the United States.

Kidney transplantation offers better mortality and quality of life outcomes to patients with end-stage renal failure compared to dialysis. Specifically, living donor kidney transplantation is the best treatment for end-stage renal disease, since it offers the greatest survival benefit compared to deceased donor kidney transplant or dialysis. However, not all patients from all racial/ethnic backgrounds enjoy these benefits. While black and Hispanic patients bear the predominant disease burden within the United States, they represent less than half of all kidney transplants in the country. Other
