Education Research: Online EEG Learning Platforms for Resident and Fellow Education.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: EEG interpretation is a core neurology competency, but instruction and supervised review vary across programs. Online platforms may supplement training, but their design and functionality are not well characterized. We reviewed publicly accessible online EEG platforms for residents and fellows. METHODS: We conducted a scoping review of publicly available online EEG learning platforms using a multipronged identification strategy (June 2025 to January 2026) that included independent web searches by multiple reviewers, targeted screening of professional society and org

Special education versus inclusive education: the role of the TEACCH program.

Our study aimed at comparing, over a period of 3 years, the effectiveness of three different educational approaches addressed to children with autism and severe mental retardation. The first one was a treatment and education of autistic and related communication handicapped children (TEACCH) program implemented in a residential center; the second was a TEACCH program implemented at home and at mainstream schools, after a specific parent psychoeducational training; the third approach referred to inclusive education in mainstream schools, in which a nonspecific approach was implemented. Each sub

How Advanced Practice Clinicians Support Education for and Contribute to Education of Graduate Medical Education Trainees: A Critical Literature Review.

PURPOSE: With the introduction of physician assistants and nurse practitioners (i.e., advanced practice clinicians [APCs]), the landscape of graduate medical education (GME) has fundamentally changed. Whereas APCs' role in GME settings has been mainly described as substitutes for postgraduate medical trainees, APCs are increasingly considered integrated and collaborative team members. However, APCs' contributions to trainees' education and learning remain underexplored. This critical review synthesized the literature available on how APCs contribute to trainees' workplace learning and how thes

Challenges of teaching the deaf-blind learner in an education setting in Johannesburg: Experiences of educators and assistant educators.

BACKGROUND: Evidence suggests that educators of deaf-blind students in the South African context have specific challenges in the educational setting because of their lack of adequate knowledge on deaf-blindness and a lack of sufficient training on communication, teaching and learning strategies. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to describe the challenges experienced by educators and assistant educators of children with deaf-blindness. METHOD: Ten educators and assistant educators were selected purposively to participate in the study (Male = 3; Female = 7; age range 31-49 years). Partici

Simulation-Based Education (SBE) in paediatric undergraduate medical education: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Maintaining a workforce capable of providing safe and effective care is a critical priority of healthcare systems worldwide, with growing concerns about paediatric workforce and increasing demand on acute services. Ensuring that graduating doctors can recognise and initiate management of acutely ill children is therefore an essential competency in medical education. However, opportunities for medical students to gain experience in paediatric emergencies during undergraduate clinical placements are often limited, unpredictable and ethically constrained. Consequently, students may gr

Diversity in Education Study (DivES): Investigating a neurodiversity module in higher education.

Roughly 20% of adults identify as neurodivergent - an umbrella term used to describe cognitively atypical individuals. Neurodivergent identities manifest in several forms including autism, attention dysregulation hyperactivity disorder/attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, and other cognitively atypical trajectories. Despite a societal increase in acknowledgment and awareness of neurodiversity, there remains little to no discussion or critical understanding of neurodivergent individuals, especially within the realm of higher education (HE). The aim of this study, as part of the D

[Pharmacology education on women's health, pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding in Midwifery education].

Midwives are responsible professionals who support the sexual and reproductive health, rights, and welfare of individuals, families, and communities. In particular, midwives work in partnership with women to provide the necessary support, care and advice needed during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. Midwives conduct normal births on her own responsibility, support breastfeeding, provide care for newborns and infants, and fully release mother-infant's latent strengths. Midwives also contribute in adopting appropriate preventative measures to promote normal birth and breastfeedi

Education for students with neurodevelopmental disabilities-Resources and educational adjustments.

Children with neurodevelopmental disorders are more likely to face challenges of various kinds throughout their schooling due to their vulnerability factors. Although certain evidence-based practices have been recognized to be effective in supporting academic performance or social and personal adjustment, transferring these practices to school realities remains a challenge. Indeed, the educational trend favored for more than 20 years promotes the development of all students in the most natural context possible. The objective of this chapter is to shed light on how resources and EBPs can be org

Pre-service teachers' attitudes toward inclusive mathematics education across teacher education programs.

This study examines pre-service teachers' attitudes toward inclusive mathematics education and how these attitudes vary by teacher preparation experience and program type. An explanatory sequential mixed-methods design was used. In the quantitative component, data were collected from 570 pre-service teachers in preschool, primary school, and elementary mathematics teacher education programs at twelve universities across Türkiye, using the Teacher Attitude Scale Toward Inclusive Mathematics Education. The scale's factorial structure, reliability, and cross-program measurement equivalence were r

Education on-demand: the development of a simulator-based medical education service.

OBJECTIVES: Clinical medical education depends on the availability of instructive patient encounters, or "good teaching cases." While all medical students hope to see enough patients of sufficient scope and variety, exposure to good teaching cases has been traditionally limited by time and chance. Students may graduate from medical school without having seen a number of important cases, each of which may represent a knowledge gap they will carry forward into internship and future patient care. Recently, however, the advent of high-fidelity patient simulators has enabled instructors to recreate
